This is our lovely local pub, The Brewers Arms in Herstmonceux. It used to be a smugglers' pub back in the day (loads of smuggling history in this area, often with tunnels to the beach - there used to be a tunnel from the Brewers' to the castle). It's got a nice beer garden and has been tastefully done up inside and they often light the fire. It's about 15 minutes walk from here, so if you come to stay in our treehouse or our Shepherd huts it's a great option for lunch or dinner without the car. They do really good food Wednesdays to Sundays - nothing is frozen or microwaved and they have pizza nights with a proper wood fired pizza oven. They do a special offer of two rump steaks, chips and salad for £22 on a Thursday evening and their Sunday Roast is delicious and excellent value :)

Heartsease is an extra large Shepherds hut with a private hot tub in Herstmonceux, near Eastbourne (the sunniest place in England). It's an idyllic place for couples to come and chill and relax, with lots of lovely walks and nice pubs and restaurants locally. Set in the heart of 1066 country in the South Downs National Park Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it's also a great base for visiting Battle, Hastings, Rye, Bexhill, Alfriston, Cuckmere, Lewes, Brighton, Ashdown Forest and Tunbridge Wells. There's a wealth of local attractions, beaches, castles, places of historical interest, theatres, golf courses, stables, vineyards, sports such as paddle boarding, canoeing, sailing and windsurfing, several escape rooms and you can even see live opera at Glynde.

This restaurant only opens on weekends and special occasions and you have to book but they do lobster and steak and Dover sole to perfection! Open 14th, 15th, 16th February - you HAVE to book (mention if you want lobster so they can get it fresh and local) :)

Really enjoying hosting - have had some lovely guests - several wedding guests for various local weddings; people coming from afar to see relatives; several birthday celebrations, families having quality time and a bride and groom for their wedding night! Tonight's guests are extra special - from a half mile away! Came to retreat and heal. I gave a Reiki treatment to one of them when I found out their story and I think I have made new friends as she and her mum and I have SO much in common!

OOH! Just got an email from Airbnb - been made a Superhost again! So chuffed! Have also been recently made a HomeAway Premier Partner and got a Tripadvisor 2017 Certificate of Excellence and their (Tripadvisor's) site is due to update in May and I've already fulfilled their requirements for 2018..! Feeling happy because I must be doing it right if all these sites and guests think I am. Suggestions always welcome of course! Very grateful for the positive feedback. Makes work feel good :)

Fab day today. Had a really good chat with the Italian family who stayed last night with their adorable children. They'd had a lovely walk to The White Horse Inn last night where the very talented landlord, Matt Kasar made their children loads of balloon animals and fed them lovely food. They said they will be back! Then a massive rush with my dear friend and cleaning lady Denise to get the place ready for tonight's three ladies, who arrived early so they could have healing treatments. I gave a Reiki treatment with the birds singing and the sheep baaing... then my dear friend and guitar student Maureen came to do 2 Aromatherapy massages. The ladies said they're delighted and feel wonderful (air punch moment) and are off to EASTERN PROMISE indian restaurant herstmonceux for their dinner (guaranteed yumminess) and then tomorrow Maureen's coming back to do 2 Reflexology sessions. This is what I always hoped Treetops Romantic Retreat and Sussex Arts, Music and Skills would become. We are successfully providing sanctuary and soul food! Thanks very much to Sophie Douglas for the photos. Very happy bunny :)

Had a family arriving yesterday and another today - in between cleaning I dug out the huge old climbing rose (it has a new home in a friend's garden) weeded and planted lots of new flowers. The clematis survived the build - I've bought a fragrant honeysuckle to replace the roses, so soon the new oak posts will have flowers growing up them. Can't wait to see it in a few week's time! What do you think?
