After an extremely busy first week back to work it’s the first chance I’ve had to summarise our Tahitian dream holiday.
I also wanted to share my experience for anyone that’s thinking about a location for that ‘special’ holiday whether it be a big anniversary, honeymoon or it’s just on your list!!

Visiting the French Polynesian islands has been a life long dream and it was supposed to happen for us in 2020 for our ‘big’ anniversary but covid and everything else that year put it on hold however we eventually got there and it did not disappoint, everything we imagined and more…………….

The most perfect start to our holiday and something I would highly recommended was staying in one of the beautiful Overwater Bungalows at the Intercontinental Tahiti for 3 nights prior to boarding our ship.
A chance to experience a little of Papeete and acclimatise and recover from the back to back flights from the UK.

This hotel has a beautiful pool and its own lagoon where you can snorkel with the fish as well as it having its own turtle sanctuary on site. It is approx 10 mins from the airport and approx 30 minutes to the port in Papeete.

The next 11 days we spent onboard the lovely boutique, personable and relaxing Windstar Star Breeze ship with a fantastic itinerary sailing around the stunning French Polynesian Islands.

The captain and his amazing crew were so friendly, always smiling and they couldn’t do enough for you.
The food was excellent with several dining options of restaurants which were all as good as each other.

On a couple of evenings Star Breeze transported us to the beautiful Atolls where we were served dinner outdoors surrounded by the turquoise seas, palm trees with our cocktails in coconut shells in hand - just magical!!!

We experienced for the 2nd time of sailing with Windstar their amazing signature BBQ - this time offshore to another Atoll and alongside fab local entertainment with a fire dance show.

The brilliant entertainment staff onboard had a good variety of events and activities lined up.
We had the live music during the day & every evening, alongside quizzes, crew and guest participation dance shows, outdoor party night, guest speakers, line dancing, Tahitian Dance classes, garland & shell bracelet making classes, language classes and learning all about the Tahitian culture and much more……..

I even asked the entertainment team if they could put on a Karaeoke evening for us which they did and was brilliant fun - enjoyed by all!!

You could make the cruise as busy or as quiet as you wanted and the perfect place to chill with a coffee and a cake was in the beautiful light and spacious library area with panorama views at the front of the ship. Or enjoy a treatment at the lovely spa.

We met a few solo travellers onboard one who joined us for dinner one evening and everyone we met was really enjoying the cruise.

The last 24 hours onboard the Star Breeze was spent docked in beautiful Moorea.

We had a fabulous final dinner in the Star Breeze’s main restaurant with 6 of our ‘new’ group of lovely friends who we met onboard and whom we had so much fun with over the previous 11 days.
It was quite an emotional evening having to say goodbye to everyone who we’d grown so close to during the cruise which not only included our new group of friends but also many of the fantastic crew who had looked after us so so well and some of whom I will be definitely keeping in touch with.

Thankyou to everyone onboard the Star Breeze & Windstar Cruises as well as the Intercontinental Tahiti we had the most amazing holiday.

My lasting memories forever of Tahiti and the islands will be the stunning turquoise, aqua, blue colours of the water (my favourite colours), the natural beauty of the islands and the unspoilt paradise beaches.

Swimming and snorkelling with the sharks, the mantarays, stingrays, dolphins, turtles and the array of colourful fish and coral. Marine life I’ve never experienced before.

The people we met and who we had so much fun with. The fantastic crew onboard the star breeze who joined in partying & dancing with us as well as taking such good care of us all. You were the best!!!

After a visit to Raiatea we were treated to a French Polynesian deck party back on ship. Fab food & cocktails and we were all given beautiful smelling garlands that the local ladies had made for everyone. Such a fun day and a great deck party afterwards with the brilliant crew of the Star Breeze.

Our last day and reluctant to leave the beautiful InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa however we’re excited to board the Windstar Cruises Star Breeze for the next leg of our French Polynesian adventure.

Found this fabulous restaurant in Papeete called L’O A La Bouche.

I chose a traditional Tahitian dish from the menu - Mahi Mahi which was the best I’ve ever tasted, with mixed vegetable & coconut & vanilla rice, the best rice I’ve ever tasted too.
My husband had the beef which melted in your mouth.

Absolutely delicious!!!!

May return today as it was that good.

And we’ve arrived in Paradise………..

After 24 hrs of travel, two excellent flights with Virgin Atlantic & , a 4 hr stop at LAX to stretch our legs, we landed at 06.15 in Papeete,Tahiti to a traditional Tahitian warm welcome.

Within 10 minutes of collecting our luggage we arrived at the beautiful InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa our pre Windstar Cruises stay for 3 nights. Even though it was early morning we were greeted by friendly & helpful hotel staff.

Whilst waiting to check in to our accommodation we were able to have a coffee relaxing on the elevated terrace of the hotel.
Pinching myself to say we are actually here and enjoying the serenity & the stunning views of the hotel grounds overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Our luggage was stored in the secure lock up room and we were able to shower and freshen up in the rooms that are made available for guests prior to check in or post check out.

Our first day was spent swimming, relaxing around the pool and watching the array of tropical fish in the lagoon as well as the turtles being very well taken care of in the onsite turtle sanctuary.

We checked out the grounds of the hotel and came across a beautiful spa - a massage is definitely on the cards after our travels!!

The hotel has its own shuttle service into Papeete (chargeable for a small fee) approx 25 mins away so while we had time we decided to head into town for a couple of hours.

Done a little shopping, had a look around the market and a late lunch.
We were recommended a local restaurant by a local business lady, omg the food was amazing - photos and details to follow.

Got back from town and our overwater bungalow was ready.
An hour later I was sunbathing out on the deck and all you could hear was the sounds of the water beneath me, once again pinching myself that we are actually here - just heaven!!!!!

After an extremely busy 12 months I’m really looking forward to this holiday and a couple of weeks of R&R.

This is also a bucket list trip for us which was suppose to happen in 2020 to celebrate our big anniversary.
