Ferry Update: 28th September 2023

Good News - The Calmac winter timetable is now available to book for crossings to Harris from 23rd October 2023 - 28th March 2024.

Please note that due to construction work at Uig Pier, the Uig-Tarbert crossing will not sail, between 30 October 2023 and 11 December 2023.

The alternative crossings for reaching Harris during this period are Stornoway - Ullapool* or Berneray - Leverburgh.

*Despite their names, the Isle of Lewis and Isle of Harris are part of the same Hebridean land mass. So you just travel between the two by road.

We have loads of off peak, minimum 3 night availability at Gneiss House, from this November until the end of March 2024.

Should be a good one this.

What are you doing tomorrow? You could join us for a leisurely four hour cruise from the Isle of Harris Marina in Tarbert. This trip makes a nice exploration of the rocky inlets of the Bays of Harris. See the settlements along the coastline which were thriving family homes with the remains of cultivation in the form of 'lazy beds' or feannagan in Gaelic. Travel by boat was the usual mode of transport in the days before the Golden Road was built and Angus has lots of cultural and historical insight to share as you cruise. He will probably lift a couple of creels in the process.
