How do travel agents get paid? I get asked this a lot. Firstly, I do not charge a fee for my service. I get paid a commission by the holiday company/tour operator/supplier when you book your holiday through me. Commission is already factored into the cost of your holiday. When you book directly with the supplier yourself they do not have to pay out the commission. When you book your holiday through me, the supplier pays me the commission. The cost of your holiday is the same whether you book directly with the supplier yourself or whether you book with the supplier through a travel agent. This is what we call price parity in the travel industry and it is the case with the majority of the suppliers I use. Therefore you get my help and personalised service for free. There are many suppliers that can only be booked through travel agents so by booking with me you have more choice. When I discuss with you what it is you want from your holiday I then go to the suppliers that I know will be able to best deliver this and get you the best value for the amount you wish to spend. I’m your point of contact should you need to amend your holiday or add any extras like excursions, airport parking, car hire. I’m with you throughout the whole process from enquiry right through until your return and by booking your holiday through a travel agent you are reducing your risk by ensuring that your holiday is protected.
