Waterfalls make you happy!
Studies say breathing negative ions produced by waterfalls causes biochemical reactions that increase serotonin levels.
Where better to get a natural happy fix than Iguazu Falls, it’s been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature.
It’s one of the largest waterfall systems in the world and stretches for 2.7km (1.7 mi) along the border of Brazil and Argentina. It consists of approximately 270 individual waterfalls with heights between 60 and 82 meters (197-269 ft).
On my last trip to South America, Iguazu was one of my highlights and I did find myself smiling a lot. Who knows for sure if it’s true but it’s one hell of an amazing place.

Bhutan is mine, I’ve wanted to go for so long, and when I lived in Singapore I almost went a couple of times but things got in the way (cursed Covid being one of them)
Some fun facts about Bhutan
1. Known as the land of happiness
2. Doesn’t have any traffic lights
3. Last country in the world to introduce television
4. Only country in world that has Buddhism as its official religion
5. Its an official carbon negative country
It’s also a country with a wealth of culture and natural beauty and is best experienced from March to May or September to November, when the weather allows you to trek, it’s in the Himalayas so it gets very cold in winter months. There is a sustainable development fee of $100 a day per day per adult and a limit on the amount of tourists each year which keeps tourism manageable and less crowded.
It’s a more tricky destination to get to but if you’re looking for something off the beaten track, Bhutan could be the place for you. I’d be delighted to help get you there, if not a little bit jealous. I’ll get there one day!!

Koh Lipe is a hidden gem…
You might have seen it featured on the recent Race Around The World!! However what makes it on the path less trodden is it’s a little bit harder to get to.
When it’s this side of Thailands low season (May to September) the only option is to get to Pakbara ferry terminal and take the ferry to Koh Lipe which takes an hour and a half. If you suffer from sea sickness definitely take something, the boats are small and you can really feel the swells. The nearest airport as the crow flies is Hat Yai and it a 3-4 hour transfer to the port. In high season you can get ferries from Krabi (4.5hrs) and Langkawi (1.5hrs)
It’s often called the Maldives of Thailand due to the beautiful beaches and clear water, and a boat trip to the Tarutao Marine Park is a must. It’s a fantastic destination with fabulous seafood restaurants and a more relaxed pace.
