Hiding behind a water bucket in a sunny spot in the barn this little one born yesterday. We often get asked about lambing time on the farm. Some sheep, especially those with twins are brought in usually for a couple of days or longer if necessary, depending on the weather. This enables us to keep a close eye on mum and her milk supply, overall health. Number the ewe and her lambs so we know who belongs to who so if separation occurs we can pair them back up. Top up any struggling lambs with milk. Administer treatment for any illness. Some lambs and ewes can do absolutely fine to be left out, in which case we gather up in intervals through lambing and check overall health and move to fresh ground. A busy round the clock job - worth it to see these little faces though.

Updated pictures from Wensleydale. The artwork is up, everything looking lovely in the sunshine. Nearly all the weekends are full into May. Only weekend availability is Easter weekend in Herdwick, or the last weekend in April in Wensleydale. Don't forget the spring offers running all the way until end of April Sunday to Thursday.

Here is the news report on rural crime done by Calendar news. Shocking figures show that those committing these crimes are going unpunished. This does not just affect farmers, but households and other rural businesses.

Figures obtained by Calendar show no-one was charged in 97% of farm thefts in North Yorkshire in the last six years.

Would have taken pictures of pancakes, but they were gone before I sat down 🤣 A British tradition that forms part of the wider celebration of lent, a time of sacrifice, using up rich ingredients before the 40 days of lent. It's quite late on this year, but is always 47 days before Easter (Easter being a late one this year). Happy Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day. Well done again to the farmers who turned out in London again today, to fly the flag for Farmers. We all deserve to be recognised and listened to in the industry for reasons far beyond the IHT.
