Southern Bypass to Diani is finally open.
The construction of the southern bypass to Diani and Kenya’s South Coast is now officially open for light vehicles, which include tour vehicles, minibuses, and coaches. This project is part of Kenya’s Vision 2030. The project consists of two bridges, of which one is the longest in the Africa continent, measuring 1.45 km across the Indian Ocean.

The new bypass connects both Mombasa SGR train station and Moi International Airport. This means we will no longer be using the ferry to reach Diani and Galu. The long wait has finally come to an end. The good news is that from any of the Diani resorts, it will now take approximately one hour to get to the airport (excluding any multi-stops at resorts), the journey will be faster than it has ever been. The new route goes through virgin farmland with beautiful scenery.

As a leading DMC, we have been lobbying to have this new route officially opened for the convenience of our mutual guests travelling to Diani. The bypass is also a huge welcome for safari guests to both Tsavo East/Tsavo West, Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary and Amboseli on the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. This bypass allows for a more seamless and efficient journey reducing time to reach the Southeastern Parks of Kenya.

The bypass will also provide a more efficient journey for those guests wishing to take Mombasa city tours and other excursions in the north coast of Mombasa.

Healing Little Hearts – Kenya

Pollman’s Tours & Safaris provides transport logistics to volunteers helping this amazing charity.

Healing Little Hearts (HLH) Charity is an organization dedicated to providing critical paediatric cardiac surgeries and addressing the dire need for congenital medical care for children in Kenya. The lack of access to adequate healthcare services has resulted in immense suffering among the young population in the country. Many children face life-threatening heart conditions, with limited resources available to diagnose and treat them effectively. Healing Little Hearts believes that every child deserves a chance at life, irrespective of their background or financial circumstances.

In response to this urgent need, Healing Little Hearts began its operations in Kenya in 2016 with the aim of offering specialized cardiac medical care to children suffering from cardiac conditions. The charity collaborates with local hospitals and medical professionals to conduct life-saving surgeries through 10-day camps running every 6 months. Additionally, it empowers families by giving them hope for a healthier future. HLH emphasizes the importance of holistic care, ensuring that families receive emotional support and comprehensive medical guidance throughout the treatment process.

Healing Little Hearts approach encompasses a range of activities to address the healthcare challenges faced by children in Kenya. They organize medical missions, where teams of skilled doctors and healthcare practitioners travel to different regions of the country to deliver medical services, perform surgeries, and offer follow-up care. These missions not only provide immediate relief but also encourage capacity building within the local medical community. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Abbas Moledina at his home in Vancouver on 11 May 2023.

Abbas was instrumental in building Ranger Safaris Tanzania to the exacting standards of service that the company is known for today. As a mentor and a pioneer in the industry Abbas guided the company to great heights during his tenure.

Abbas worked alongside his late brother and founder of ARP Africa Travel, Shakir Moledina, for decades and was well known and respected in East Africa’s travel industry. His contributions to the industry in Tanzania included his time as Chairman of the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators and his extensive philanthropic efforts on a personal level and through the Rotary Club of Arusha.

He leaves behind his son, Ali, who holds the role of Operations Director at Ranger Safaris alongside Managing Director Sanjay Gajjar. Together they continue to lead the company with the ethics and dedication to excellence, an ethos Abbas engrained into Ranger Safaris. Through the groundwork that he laid, the company continues to grow with the times to meet the ever changing and challenging needs of today’s travellers.

Though he retired from the business and left Tanzania a few years ago, his influence and memory live on. Our prayers are with the family, and we cherish the wonderful memories and profound impact he had on all that were privileged to know Abbas.
