There are a couple of ways we can tackle lines around the lips, the first is to fill and the second it to tone down the muscle that contracts causing the wrinkles.

Why does it happen?

As we age, our skin gets thinner and with regular movement around an area, the lines be once more permenant.

We usually prefer to fill rather than tone down the muscles movement because not only does it last longer making it more cost effective but if we tone down the muscle movement it can make movements such as whistling and drinking out of bottles near on impossible without dribbling water everywhere!

If you’re nervous about having aesthetics treatments carried out it’s normal- it’s a new world to experience and it’s important to choose the right person who you can trust to inject your face.

If you want to step into the world with the least amount of risk then tackling your crows feet are a good way to start. The amount of solution can be fully manipulated to leave you with maximum amount of movement but the least amount of lines keeping things as natural as possible, it doesn’t work straight away, it takes up to two weeks to fully settle which means those around you are very unlikely to notice much difference - your secret is out secret!

A lot of women are wanting aesthetic treatments but are really worried that it’ll be obvious, or they will be judged for having treatments carried out.

When the whole face is taken into consideration rather than its individual parts, you can use Botox and Filler to soften the appearance of ageing without anyone having a clue that you’ve had anything carried out.

In the image in the middle, rather than tackle the nose to lips lines directly and making the lower face look heavier, we added 1ml into each cheek to help lift up the lower face, initially it did not look any different, but after a few weeks you can see how natural the patient looked.

In the image on the right, we subcised some previous cheek scarring and supported the area underneath with filler, followed by filling both cheeks, nose to mouth lines and lips to chin lines. Again, you couldn’t tell the patient had anything done!

Let’s talk about Jawline filler 💉

Used to give a little more definition, it’s a fantastic way of sharpening the jawline, for the younger generations we can go through for the jawline itself but for the more mature patient we often need to tackle the midrange and cheek area first- want to know why, keep reading.

When we are younger, all our volume is in the cheek and midrange region, but as we age, we lose this volume and we end up with jowles. If we tackle the jawline directly for the maturer patient, we can make the lower face a lot heavier. But if we treat the cheek area first before treating the jawline, we can subtly improve the overall appearance, whilst enabling the filler to do a better job for longer!

In the image in the middle, after tackling the cheeks, we added a little filler in corner just where the edge of the jaw meets the ear, we also tackle the indentation you find around 2” backwards from the chin- by doing this, we improve the overall appearance of the entire jawline and we used approximately 2ml of filler to do this.

In the image in the right, we placed the main part of the filler in the corner where the jaw meets the ear, as you can see, it defined the jawline and developed a more “snatched” appearance. For this, we used approximately 0.5ml in each corner.

Jawline will generally last around 6 months before it needs topping up, but you often only need around half of what was originally used to keep that natural appearance going.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to all of my amazing patients, the last 6 months have been the most horrific I have ever had to work through but I’m finally out through the other side and I’m not longer just surviving, I am happier than I have ever been.

I honestly couldn’t have got through it without the support of my patients (you know who you are), thanks for putting up with my horror stories- you were my source of stability throughout the whole thing and for that I am eternally grateful.

While we strive to accommodate all our clients’ desires for lip filler treatments, there are certain circumstances where we must prioritise your health and safety above all else 💙

We will always offer personalised advice, but here are a few reasons why you may be unsuitable for lip fillers at the time:

1. Illness: Even minor illnesses like a cold can significantly increase the risk of complications post-treatment. We recommend delaying the procedure until you are in good health to ensure optimal results and minimise any potential risks.

2. Cold Sores: If you are prone to cold sores or currently have any around the mouth area, undergoing lip filler treatment can heighten the risk of infection. It’s crucial to wait until the cold sore has completely healed before considering any lip enhancement procedures.

3. Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: For the safety of both you and your baby, we advise against receiving lip fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your body’s hormonal changes during this time may affect the outcome of the procedure.

4. Bleeding Problems: Individuals with bleeding disorders or those taking medications such as aspirin or warfarin, which affect blood clotting, are at higher risk of complications during and after lip filler injections. It’s best to refrain from lip enhancement procedures if you have any bleeding-related concerns.

5. Medication and Roaccutane Treatment: Certain medications, especially those that impact the immune system, may interfere with the healing process or increase the likelihood of adverse reactions to lip fillers. Additionally, if you have recently completed a course of Roaccutane (acne treatment) within the last 18 months, it is advisable to wait before considering lip filler injections.

One question we’re asked frequently is “How long do fillers last and what can I do to make them last longer?”

* Whilst going to the gym and working out is great for your mind and body, it is not great for your fillers and it does mean they metabolise quicker. We wouldn’t however suggest you change your gym routines for fillers as the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages of working out.

* Cut down on your alcohol consumption and smoking

* Avoid sunbeds

* Use a SPF every day of at least 50 between March and October and 30 between October and February.

* Avoid putting pressure on the area, for example, if you sleep on your front, make sure you are not resting your cheeks on your arms if you have had cheek fillers.

* Top up your fillers before they have all metabolised. Best thing to do is pop in and see your practitioner after 6 months to see how your fillers are lasting. Ideally you want the fillers to have reduced by approximately 60-75% before topping up, otherwise you run the risk of looking “over done.”

Love this transformation! Plumped just enough to give beautifully fuller lips 💋

We always recommend going slow when you start having your lips done.

Although for more mature lips, having 1-2ml over a 2-4 week period (initially) can be normal, there is absolutely nothing wrong with starting with 0.5ml and building up.

The other benefit of this is that it reduces the change of migration happening which is especially important for those with small lips where the filler will take the path of least resistance 💙

During your initial consultation we’ll talk you through the treatment you’ve chosen and what to expect on the day 💙

Once we’re ready to get started, we’ll take your treatment slowly and carefully to ensure that you are happy at every point during the procedure.

Sometimes we might ask you to sit up and down with a mirror by your side, so you can watch the progress of treatment. This also allows us to work together and adjust things as we go.

Once the treatment is done, you will be given comprehensive advice to help ensure your downtime goes smoothly and the effects of the treatment are preserved 🥰

Niki, our Director and Advanced Aesthetic Practitioner will always makes herself available post-procedure, to answer any questions you may have and will often check in with you in the days following a treatment to ensure that you have no concerns and that any downtime is as comfortable as can be.

Time to meet our Director, Niki 🎉

Though most of you know her anyway! ☺️

Niki began her journey into Aesthetics in 2018 after her own transformative experience. She felt passionate about fighting to change the perception of the industry and demonstrate to others that aesthetic treatments can, and should be as natural as possible.

Putting the safety of patients first, Niki re-trained as a nurse, is Intermediate Life Support trained and is currently an Independent Nurse Prescribing Student.

When not in clinic, Niki is either found working at her local Urgent Care Centre or relaxing (or trying to!) at home with her four children and Labradoodle, Daisy.

It’s Friday 🙌🏼 and what better day than to introduce you to another member of our team, Sully, our Aesthetic Practitoner and Registered Diagnostic Radiographer.

Sully joined the team in 2022 having seen the effects aesthetic treatments have on the confidence of others.

He specialises in cryotherapy and sclerotherapy treatments and works as a Diagnostic Radiographer at Basingstoke Hospital and is also the resident handyman!

When Sully isn’t in clinic, he enjoys cooking and playing multiplayer games on his computer 🎮

Patient safety is our number one priority and always work with our patients and not on them to provide dermal filler treatments that put them in the centre of everything we do.

We will never over promise the outcome of a treatment and will always opt to work in stages with dermal filler treatments to allow the results to fully settle before building on them.

We also only carry out results that will settle within the parameters of a normal appearance and will never over treat an area, choosing a more natural, tweakment approach over an obviously treated approach 💙

It actually terrifies me that I thought I was at the top of my game and recently discovered that I was falling sort on one very important fact. I knew I could inject adrenaline in an emergency and I knew I could carry out BLS, but what I didn’t know what about how and when to actually manage an airway in an anaphylaxis. This is something you’d only learn on an intermediate life support course and something which the vast majority of Medical professionals actually don’t do unless they are in a role that involves urgent/emergency care or in certain areas like theatres. Now I know I am at the very top of my game and I am now as safe as I possibly can be without having a resus room!

What does it feel like to have filler in your cheeks? You'll feel a sharp prick when the needle touches your skin but after that it shouldn't be painful. When the filler goes in your skin will feel a little tight as it plumps up, and afterwards it'll feel like a small ball under your skin (feels like a huge spot) for a few weeks until the filler fully settles. For the first few days, your lower face might feel a little achey, but its generally comfortable and if necessary you can take paracetamol if you feel you need too. Did you know? There are three main reasons why your face changes shape as you age? 1) Your bone is re-absorbed and especially around your eyes (this is why they can look sunken) 2) your skin gets thinner (this is down to changes in hormones) 3) your fat pad supporting your outter skin structures start to go south and thats why you get jowls. When we are younger, we have an upside down triangle face where our volume is in our cheeks and our chin appears more pointy. But as we age, all the volume is in our lower face and appears as jowls. There is a simple and natural way to rectify this which involves a small amount of filler (a 10th of a tea spoon!) in each cheek, which can make a real difference in supporting the structures in the face and putting the volume back where it was originally. Hopefully that was helpful, if it was, give us a like!

We had an insanely busy weekend treating moles, skin tags, Cherry Angiomas, seberrohic keratosis and pigmentation and it was fantastic! Of course, we wouldn’t treat others without trying it ourselves and it was surprising how comfortable it actually is! About Us

Niki is the creator, proprietor and fully qualified aesthetician of SERO Aesthetics; she is 31-years-old and a mum of four and runs SERO Aesthetics. Niki is a HCPC registered Diagnostic Radiographer, her medical background means you can rest assured you're in safe hands.

After undergoing her own cosmetic surgery (breast augmentation), Niki was exposed to the heavy stigma that came with it. She experienced a lot of resistance and judgement when all she wanted to do was feel more feminine.

Now, Niki is confident in her own skin and wants others to feel the same. When asked why she chose aesthetics Niki said:

‘I know so many people who want to have treatments done but are scared that they will look frozen or surprised or end up with trout pout or the signature Kim Kardashian look. These amazing people go without treatment rather than wanting to be viewed as one of “those people” and it isn’t right or fair.
