What a wonderful world

This October look out for one the smallest bird found here at Tiny Home, a Gold Crest very hard to spot and photograph as they are always on the move.

For those who listen to the podcast, here is David with the star of the show

David MacTaggart won sheep farmer of the year in 2016, and has had to adjust to working with the different character of deer.

He says although they’re also herd animals, their speed, strength and suspicious nature make them more like ‘prime athletes’, and it’s better to work with them from afar. He’s found this approach keeps things really calm, an effect notable by the lack of shouting and swearing :)

This is David with ‘Number One’ - their most friendly hind, who features on this episode of the FoodScape Podcast. 🦌🦌🦌

A great way to spend a few hours is a walk at Rule Water Alpacas with hosts Paul and Joan. Situated on our woodland walk guests can easily walk from Tiny Home to enjoy time with Liquorice (who is with Melissa) and Nougat (who is with Paul) and the other alpacas in the herd.

Did you know, they always take 2 alpacas together for friendship.

The Borders Distillery working closely with local farmers to build on the stive to be a net zero distillery 👏👏👏🥃🥃🥃

Tours Monday to Saturday until the end of October https://www.thebordersdistillery.com/distillery-tour-in-the-borders/

We all know that we use 100% Borders barley at The Borders Distillery, but how do we do it? 🚜

Our Borders Growers and Distillers programme, in partnership with Simpsons Malt, ensures we have access to high quality and responsibly produced crops. 🌾 It connects our growers to our distillers, as we see our products go from seed to spirit. 🥃

And, as we strive to become a Zero Waste distillery, we work the organic by-product from distillation going to local farms where it is used to grow plants (including some delicious tomatoes!). 🍅

Thank you to these lovely guests who left this wonderful review... 🥰

"This was one of the most memorable holidays we've ever had...and we've travelled! The moment we arrived, the views were breathtaking. 360° degrees of perfect green hills. Our Tiny Home was perfect, nestled in the landscape, it was clean, beautifully decorated, but what made it exceptional, was the special touches from the host: homemade and locally produced food and presented as arrival gifts (I don't want to spoil the surprises for guests arriving!) Our hosts have taken the time to understand what makes a perfect restful holiday and executed their assignment perfectly. From the most comfortable bedding, to the towels, the bathroom products, the blankets, the robes, but most importantly, they've designed a home that feels like you've been whisked away from the rat race & placed in a tranquil garden where nature and wildlife are the only distractions. They've taken the time to share their landscape with guests with maps and instructions of idyllic walks as if sharing with friends. This was perfect. My only regret is not staying longer and my only fear...is how does my next holiday top that!!

Wonderful, thoughtful hosts! Attention to detail and executing it to perfection." July2024

If you fancy a bit of paddleboarding then there are 2 boards available at Tiny Home, meaning that you and your partner can go out on the water together. You could even enjoy some wild swimming in your own private Lochan.
