Connections through Music Autism

Connections through Music Autism 'Connections through Music' empowers parents and caregivers to discover another avenue in which to connect and communicate.

Both musical intuits, Caroline and Kyle are a mother and son team that facilitate 'Connections through Music' performances, talks and workshops to demonstrate how music can transcend conventional language. Caroline a former director of a Health Care business for nearly twenty years. With vast experience she most recently founded the 'Art of Conscious Parenting' an organisation to autism, owns her

own record label, is a song lyricist and supports her autistic son Kyle to give performances and talks which helps inspire others to go beyond the boundaries of their autism. Kyle was diagnosed with classic autism and termed non-verbal when he was just three years old. Kyle's silent and isolated world was transformed after receiving music therapy just a few years ago. Now at the age of twenty eight Kyle has exceeded his own limitations, and has become the first autistic recording artist to release two albums to help raise autism awareness, his musical journey has been made into a documentary and was awarded first prize for his achievements in the performing arts at the 'World Autism Festival' 2014.

'You need no musical or instrumental skill'

As a mother I spent many years trying to find ways to connect with my son. It wasn't until Kyle showed an interest in music that I could truly see a way into his world. The transformational effects of music therapy opened that doorway, and now, by developing my own intuitive listening skills, Kyle and I are able to continue our musical conversation which is creative, cohesive and connecting. By using a range of sounds and tones we can entrain ourselves to become instrumentally intuitive. This enables us to explore, experiment and experience within a sound-scape. When we play in unison with another person a synergy between partnerships happens creating a unified state of mind. The aim of these workshops is to provide a learning ground for parents, caregivers and support teams, so they may discover for themselves; the effects of music, how to develop their own musical intuition, learn to creative a dialogue through rhythm and sound, tune into the field of sensing and feeling and learn a way in which to apply these attributes.
