🐈 Checking out the facilities at Pengelly Retreat, 🐈

We have 2 beautiful cats at Pengelly, a brother and sister, who do love to come and check out the lakeside cabin and yurt. They are basically living the dream with beautiful gardens to roam about in and nice cosy accommodation to return to!

You might well see them when you come and stay, they like a bit of fuss and a stroke - unless you’re coming with your dog in which case they reserve the right to not make an appearance 😂 🐶

Gorgeous Godrevy Beach… and lots of 🦭🦭🦭

How stunning is the coastline at Godrevy, this is one of my favourite walks locally, always blows away the cobwebs!

I went on a sunny day last week and saw so many seals resting on the beach, just beyond the lighthouse. They’re protected there as people can’t access this beach but can quietly view the wonderful seals from the cliff path above 🦭

I was also lucky to spot lots of seals close to the shore at one of the swimming beaches - they followed a kayaker, playing in the wake behind him.

There were also 2 seals together at the shoreline - maybe Mr & Mrs Seal, I’m not sure! Scroll to see the little reel I took of them 🦭💕

💕 Romantic hideaway by the lake 💕

I love these early evening shots of the Boat House Cabin at Pengelly Retreat, Cornwall. So serene 🩵

This is such a perfect bolt hole if you want to escape the busy of everyday life and have a few days of peaceful waterside tranquility. You can wild swim in the lake - yes it’s still warm enough! - and then snuggle up by the cosy log burner inside. This little cabin is built as a tiny house and is fully insulated, so it stays warm in winter and cool in summer 🔥

This time of year is so great for long walks in the countryside or on the beach, pub lunches and exploring the Cornish harbours at St Ives and Porthleven nearby ⚓️

🍂 Autumn sunshine & colours at Pengelly Retreat, Cornwall 🍂

We’re not quite into autumn yet but we’re definitely feeling the autumnal vibes here now September’s started - it feels much quieter out and about, perfect for beach and countryside walks & pub lunches.

I love this time of year and we get gorgeous colours in the gardens over the autumn months. These pics were actually taken last November - cats were obviously enjoying autumn too 😂🐾

We’re fully booked for this month, but we do still have a couple of gaps in October & November if you fancy a cosy autumn stay by the lake in the Boat House Cabin or Sail House Yurt - both with outdoor fire pits for marshmallow roasting, cosy log burners inside and a touch of underfloor heating to keep your toes warm too 🔥

There are so many peaceful places to explore and enjoy in the Pengelly Retreat gardens. Perfect for quiet reflections, tranquil meditation or just to escape the crazy of our busy lives for some restorative time.

The land has a very special quality which you have to be here to experience. Beautiful for a nurturing weekend away, relaxing retreat or intimate small wedding celebration 💕

This dreamy view - yes! And also the perfect leg-swinging over the lake vantage point to watch the birdlife, butterflies and dragonflies on the water. And if you feel like it the ideal launching off point to explore the lake by SUP!

SUP Yoga on the Pengelly Retreat lake! 💦

This paddle board is normally for use of guests of the Sail House Yurt… but glorious sunshine and a 1 night gap between bookings gave us the chance for a mess about on the lake today.

I thought I’d leave the splits and crow pose on the SUP to Aggie while I perfected my mountain pose 😂

The cats think we’ve gone mad…. 🐈‍⬛

Cornish harbour loveliness at Porthleven yesterday 🩵

We love Porthleven for pottering by the harbour - there’s lots of shops, cafes and galleries to browse around and some stunning cliff walks either side. So easy to get to as well, just 15 mins drive from Pengelly Retreat or a beautiful walk through the Penrose Estate in nearby Helston.

It’s deservedly got a bit of a foodie reputation too with an annual food festival in spring and lots of restaurants to check out. Two of our favourites for a meal out are and both with views over the harbour. The takeaway fish & chips are the chippie in Shute Lane are also awesome. Oh and the fudge from the harbourside van opposite The Square bistro is the BEST. We give all our Pengelly Retreat guests a little bag of the vanilla fudge 😋

Looking lush & lovely in the summer sunshine 💚💚💚

Yes we have had some sunshine here in Cornwall, although showers too! So the gardens and land at Pengelly are looking very lush & green 💚

The Sail House yurt is cosily tucked away jn the greenery, between 2 lakes and it’s just perfect for nature ahd wildlife spotting. We’ve been enjoying watching the swallows and swifts, the butterflies and dragonflies, and beautiful blue kingfishers who all love to dip into the lake water 🩵

We don’t have much summer 2024 availability left but you might find a short stay available in either the lakeside cabin or yurt if you check the Pengelly Retreat website. Otherwise come and catch the late summer sun in October instead! ☀️

Summertime at the Pengelly Retreat Boat House Cabin 🌸

We love this time of year here! The gorgeous water lillies are blooming in the lakes and the wild water mint smells wonderful. The swallows are dipping into the lake, dragonflies are dancing on the surface and we saw the turquoise flash of our resident kingfisher’s wings yesterday. Such a treat 🩵

Sunshine & showers in Cornwall! ☀️ ☔️

We’re super-busy & booked up now that we’re fully into the season in beautiful Cornwall. So I’ve been a bit quieter than usual here on the Instagram!

But just wanted to share this gorgeous picture of one of our closest beaches to Pengelly Retreat - this is Godrevy, so beautiful and so big that there’s always space to escape the busy even in the summer.

These big skies really sum up the weather we’ve had this half term so far - beautiful sunshine and some dramatic showers ☀️☔️

🌿 A beautiful hideaway in nature with a wild swimming lake outside your front door 💦

Doesn’t the Sail House yurt look gorgeous in the spring sunshine!

This is such a special place for a restful getaway, tucked away between 2 lakes and surrounded by nature and birdsong. Your dog is very welcome to come too for your lakeside getaway 🐶

We love how cosy the yurt is at all times of year with its log burner and touch of underfoot heating to keep your toes warm.

There’s no roughing it here, after a wild swim in the lake you can rinse off under blue skies in the heated outdoor shower or head inside to your en-suite bathroom for a hot soak in the bathtub 🛀🏼 🫧

How’s this for a Monday - sun, sand & seals!☀️🏝️🦭

We enjoyed a very windy but bright and beautiful walk along the cliffs at Godrevy today, always fun to watch the seals just chilling on their private beach near the lighthouse.

We’re loving that the sunshine has returned at last to Cornwall after a rather wet winter and early spring ☀️☀️☀️

We’ve still a little space in the gorgeous Sail House yurt this month if you fancy treating yourself to a last minute spring break with sunshine 🌸☀️

🍃 A peaceful place in nature 🍃

The Pengelly Retreat tipi & it’s magical garden 🪴✨

We love our beautiful tipi created for us by Cornwall-based .co.uk - it gets used for all sorts of exciting events & adventures. From wedding celebrations and special occasions silver-service dinners to astrology workshops and healing ceremonies, it has such a peaceful vibe.

Theres definitely something a bit magical about its location by the bubbling stream… we sometimes find four-leaf clovers on the patch of grass just outside the tipi’s entrance and once when I was having a peaceful read in there, a polecat wandered in and out again!

Summertime vibes at Pengelly Retreat 🌸🌸🌸

I love how lush and green, and wild and abundant everything goes in the summertime here. And of course the gorgeous blooming lillies on the lake.

We’re not quite there yet! These pictures are from last summer but beautiful green shoots and buds are appearing everywhere - so I know summer is on its way! Not long now ☀️☀️☀️

Water water everywhere…. 💙💦

We’ve had a rainy February in Cornwall and our lakes, ponds and stream are really showing the watery results 💦

The land is lush and green and spring flowers blooming, but wellington boots are currently a fashion essential for walks at Pengelly Retreat if you want to avoid the dreaded soggy-sock-syndrome (SSS) 🧦

Buddha is slightly more submerged in his lake than usual and the Boat House boat has temporarily turned into a swimming pool feature 💦

Luckily our lovely lakeside houses are designed to stay cosy and dry whatever the weather, with toasty log burners 🔥, a touch of underfloor heating - and not a soggy sock in sight 😊

🌸 Loving these signs of spring at Pengelly Retreat in Cornwall 🌸

Spring really does start in February in Cornwall which we absolutely love - we’re definitely ready for green shots and blossom! 🌱🌸

Here’s our beautiful Boat House Cabin in the spring sunshine and the blossom starting to bud and flower on the pear trees that line the pathway to the lake. Daffodils are growing around their trunks and the snowdrops are flowering everywhere 🌱
