Hedon History Talks are saving your legs this Friday. Less walking and more talking at the Hedon British Legion on Thursday 6th Feb at 7 PM. Lucy Brooke will be delivering an illustrated talk looking into strange and wonderful magical ideas that were found in Holderness. 'Witch Bottles and Boundary Ghosts; Superstitions, Magic and Ritual in Holderness'. She will even tell you how you maybe able more easily get an appointment at the GP's! £5 on the door.

If anybody needs a safe place to put their male partner why not take them along to the 'Sing and Sup' evening. Our open rehearsal welcomes anybody want to try four part and close harmony singing. No need to be able to read music as we have learning tracks. The open rehearsal is followed by a few weeks learning a couple of songs, Goes' and Every Little Thing She Does is Magic'. We are a friendly bunch and head off to the pub for a pint and natter and a bit more singing. Come and give us a try

Don't forget the Sale of the Century (for Hedon Museum at least) starts tomorrow. There are piles of books and maps, of local and national history, and on many other subjects. There are local ships in bottles, Victorian and Edwardian clothing, old newspapers and old 78 rpm records. There are masses of local postcards and from further afield too. Come and have a rummage as there is much to much to list here. Museum opens at 11 am on Wednesday 22nd and on Thursday, Friday and Saturday 23rd, 24th and 25th. We close at 3pm. Cash only I'm afraid.

New Year, new challenge? If this is you, how about joining us to give four part harmony singing a go? The Men's Chorus, 'Humber Harmony' are holding an open rehearsal on Monday 3rd February. We meet at the Friends Meeting House on Peel Street in Hull, 7 to 9 pm, then to the pub for a pint afterwards. We would love to see you there on the 3rd.

For all the history buffs out there Hedon Museum is having a January Sale. We have been sorting through our cupboards and have found loads of items that we have accumulated that we don't now need or have room for. These include masses of history books, local, national and international and postcards, again local and else where too. There are ships in bottles and various items. For the crafters out there there are loads of items that can be used or repurposed. Vintage clothing, old medical instruments, shellac gramophone records, and much much more. All at knock down prices. Pop in and have a rummage. Wednesday 22nd to Saturday 25th January 11 am to 3pm each day.

THE HEDON HALLOWEEN WALK IS BACK
Hedon History Walks presents 'An A, B, C of Hedon's Hideous History: Accidents, Bloodshed and Carnage'.

Meet on Market Hill 7pm on Thursday 31st October. £5. May not be suitable for young children. Well behaved dogs welcome. No tickets required, just come along.

The walk should be around 90 mins, and is on pavements and paths.

Just a Reminder! The postponed Head to Hedon event 'TIME and TIDE' by the brilliant Hull Community Theatre and the May Geslins is TOMORROW, Saturday 28th September at 2pm at St. Augustine's Church. This is an engaging mix of music and sketches with a local maritime theme and is free with no ticket required. It will have you laughing and crying in equal measure. This will be the final event of this years Heritage Open Days, organised in Hedon by Hedon Museum.

The weather seems to be set fair for a great HEAD TO HEDON weekend. Before that we have the fabulous East Riding of Yorkshire Brass Band at St. Augustine's Church at 19:30 to fill the church with the great sound of brass.
The programme for Saturday and Sunday is here. There are 7 open buildings, three history walks, Regency Dancers at Ivy House and Hull Community Theatre in the 'open air', classic lorries and cars and the Army Cadets at Lambert House. There is an exhibition of Hedon's WWII heroes with some fantastic tales at the British Legion. There also two more free shows at St. Augustine's too, ALL for FREE.

Let's put the COME in COMEDY in front of .... to St. Augustine's in Hedon, and get there on Thursday 12th at 8 pm for a great night out with four great comics in a magnificent venue for an evening of possibilities, and all for FREE as part of the HEAD TO HEDON events organised by Hedon Museum and with funding from East Riding's Do It For East Yorkshire and Hedon Town Council. Wednesday night is the next HEAD TO HEDON concert at St. Augustines. A fantastic night of local folk by local folk for local folk. The fantastic Spare Hands along with Sam Martyn and Wolfy O'Hare, plus Kevin Young, The Cod Ends and the May Geslins will make for a fantastic evening of music are repartee. And all for FREE!
The music starts at 7pm, not tickets required. Donations taken for renovation of St. Augustine's. This is the first time that such great folk musicians have been seen in Hedon for a very long time.

It is Here! HEAD TO HEDON for Heritage Open Days. We are off with a bang with free guided walks 'on water'. The Haven was the reason for the founding of Hedon and we follow its route and hear stories along the way. Meet at Johnsons Corner car park HU12 8HP /// servers.reseller.flipping at 11am or 2pm for approx 90 mins of Hedon history.

Don't forget the Babershop Concert 7pm Saturday at St. Augustines, for a great evening of singing a capella. too.

We are sorry to announce that Saturday's performance of 'Time and Tide' by Hull Community Theatre and the May Geslins has been postponed. This is as several of the troupe have COVID. The show has been rescheduled for Saturday 28th September at 2pm, still at St. Augustine's Church, Hedon.
However you will be able to have a preview as four scenes from the show are being performed on Sat/Sun 14th/15th September at various open air venues around Hedon.
