SUPER SALPS 🤯✨
How amazing has the Salp bloom been this last week?! Thousands of these organisms have appeared in our waters and it is such a sight to experience! Here is some great footage from @ryanstalker9 who found a HUUUUGE SALP CHAIN with his buddy @teenytinyunderwaterphotos on their shore dive at Porthkerris!🤩
These are actually individual organisms which link up to make these long chains!😯

An unknown creature swimming amongst the divers - watch till the end 🧜♀️🪸
Porthkerris is probably one of the only places that you could be lucky enough to see a mermaid on your dive or snorkel! Have you ever fancied becoming a mermaid? Aquacity Freediving runs SSI Mermaid courses here at Porthkerris with the fabulous Mischief the Mermaid 🧜♀️✨🪸
Great footage from our instructor David! 📸
How mesmerising are cuttlefish?!😍
Great footage from @jadeunderwater of an inquisitive cuttlefish at Porthkerris!🤿🌅
The shore dive here is looking fab at the moment, viz is great and the marine life is on full show! As well as the usual Drawna marine life, this week we are seeing an influx of beautiful jellies and tonnes of really impressive strings of Sea Salp - some longer in length than our divers! 🪸🪼🐚

LOBSTER RELEASE AT PORTHKERRIS 🦞🪸
Last weekend we had the lovely Totnes Sub Aqua Club down for their annual trip camping and diving at Porthkerris! The National Lobster Hatchery gave Totnes over 100 baby lobsters to release onto the shore dive - what an exciting opportunity!! Here is their group footage, credit to Adam Castle! 🤩
The National Lobster Hatchery, based in Padstow, is a charitable organisation that focuses on the conservation, research and education of these beautiful creatures - check them out here or give them a visit on your way down to Porthkerris! https://nationallobsterhatchery.co.uk/
A day on the CELTIC CAT 🛥️🤿
Today we welcomed @chelmsfordscubaclub on board the Celtic Cat for a day of diving off the Cornish coast! First stop was a leisurely drift dive off Lowland point followed by a wreck dive on the Carmarthen - a 3,500 ton armed steamer that was torpedoed back in the First World War!
Book your boat dive with Porthkerris by giving us an email or call ⚓️
HAPPY BANK HOLIDAY FRIDAY EVERYONE 🤩🙌🏼☀️
What a lovely day today - lots of happy divers, fisherman and campers here at Porthkerris 💫
Amazing footage of a common octopus spotted by @d.channon98 whilst diving off Porthkerris recently! 🐙
Conditions are improving here as the sun comes out and the waves start simmering down! 🌊✨
We also have Gino and Ellie down who are prepping the new cafe ready for the season - BEACH BITES is open on the 1st May (9 days!!!) Have you had a look at the menu? 😋🍔🌯
A friendly visitor joined last weeks guided dive here at Porthkerris 🦭🤿🌊
Last week we led our first guided dive of the season and what a great dive it was! It was @itziartz life long dream to dive with seals and this was her lucky day - we had an inquisitive juvenile seal join us throughout the dive around Drawna rocks, here at Porthkerris!
The two seals were watched from the shore following the divers’ bubbles and were playing together in the bay throughout the day, followed by a pod of harbour porpoises passing through that evening 🐬🌅

A chilled day of boat dives for @ubuc_diving and @icuc_scuba 🌞⚓️🤿
At Porthkerris we offer boat launch and recovery as well as overnight mooring and parking for customers that bring their own boats down! 🛥️🌊
Stunning calm and sunny day here at Porthkerris Divers and it looks to stay like this for a while. 10m viz off the shore dive yesterday and water temperature a lovely 17 degrees. Just been watching tuna breaching off the shore here!
Strong Easterlies at the moment. Not great for business....but very very beautiful and dramatic. If you are thinking of scheduling your 2023 diving around exciting events happening in the area this year...here are a few to think about:
Saturday 6th May - Coronation and Helston Flora Day (also a Bank Holiday weekend)
Saturday 24th June - Armed Forces Day in Falmouth (and Red Arrows!!)
Friday 4th August - Marvelous Manacles Day arranged by Cornwall Wildlife Trust
Saturday 5th August to Monday 14th August - Falmouth Week (and Red Arrows!!)
Tuesday 15th August to Friday 18th August - Tall Ships Race
All very exciting and Porthkerris is in a perfect position to watch the red arrows and tall ships from.....
Looking forward to a busy summer once lockdown lightens up! Will you be heading to Porthkerris Divers this summer?☀️🌊🤿
Aerial Porthkerris by Aerial Cornwall
Beautiful aerial footage of Porthkerris shot by Matt Burtwell of Aerial Cornwall. Not quite like what it looks like here today with 40mph+ Easterlies and heaps of rain. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and the dive season is just around the corner.......
