Is Mauritius an unforgettable destination or is it overrated?
Let me tell you my experience:
I flew direct with Air Mauritius. It was a 12-hour flight, very comfortable, where I managed to sleep and watch some movies. The first impression of the island was an extremely pleasant one. From the plane, you could see the island which is so green and beautifully divided into different grain/vegetable crops.
We landed at 7 am, local time, and had the whole day to enjoy the water, sand and sun. The first hotel we stayed at was Shandrani Beachcomber, which is 10 minutes from the airport and is the perfect place for families with children, but also for couples.
During the 7 days we spent there, we enjoyed everything the island had to offer, we stayed at 3 resorts (Shandrani, Victoria and Dinarobin Beachcomber) and visited four others.
One day we adventured outside of the hotels, explored the island, went quad biking, zipline, talked to the locals, went out in the ocean by boat, saw the dolphins in their natural habitat, and swam in the crystal clear waters. There was not one minute I felt unsafe being out of the resort.
The facilities, services and the way the employees of the resorts welcomed us was 5 stars. The food is absolutely delicious and for seafood lovers there is heaven on earth.
