Still day one - after lunch we travelled a further 30 mins to Estremoz ... known as a marble town or one of the white cities of the region. The Casa do Gadanha is a stylish property with just 12 rooms. It’s contemporary and in the summer it offers a roof terrace to enjoy the sunset. The property still features original tiles and grilles and on my floor there was a lounge with a fireplace and complimentary tea, coffee and cookies - lovely touch!

But the best came last … the food on the tasting menu was amazing and the perfect end to our day …. with more local wine of course!

So… a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting Alentejo in Portugal…. for those that don’t know where it is, you fly into Lisbon and travel inland for around an hour and a half. After a quick and very quiet flight on the TAP A320 neo & comfy transfer we found ourselves at the Tapada dos Coelheiros winery for a visit and lunch. This is an organic winery of around 800 hectares. They have 9 vineyards, 1300 sheep who live in and around their cork forests, 60 year old olive groves and walnut orchards. Their wine labels reflect their heritage with the Arraiolos Tapestry designs and in 2021 they were awarded the prestigious Viticulture of the Year title. In 2022 they started offering wine tours to show off how they farm responsibly. I have to say that the wines were all wonderful and I learned a lot about walnuts and cork trees! Another thing that Grenada is known for is Artisan chocolate… the Belmont Estate offers an interesting tree to bar experience and explains the full process of organic chocolate making. The estate still grows other crops too and we saw cocoa pods on the tree & tasted cashew fruit. There was fermenting, drying and packaging going on and the various flavours of chocolate were available for tasting too! We also had a relaxing buffet lunch here which was included with our tour. #puregrenada

The Martini Bar - we enjoyed handcrafted cocktails being made under the LED chandelier in the Grand Plaza … these guys just love their job! #tcxbeyond #CelebrityBeyond #journeywonderFULL

So this is going to be where I’m ‘working’ for the next 3 days - can’t wait to see Celebrity Beyond and what she can offer my clients!

Next stop - Wadi Rum! With lunch waiting for us .... The Martian was filmed close by and I had a yurt style Martian Pod for the night with a couple of hours to relax before we set off into the sand dunes to watch the sun go down....

Here’s hoping for some good ‘green’ news on this week’s traffic light update …. but if there isn’t any … how about this ‘green’ instead?

The events of the past year have taught us many things, including the fact that being able to spend quality time with family and friends has never felt so important. We’ve missed exploring the world with the people that mean the most to us and as we look forward, I’ll keep your wellbeing at the heart of everything I do. I hope you enjoy reliving your travel memories with us as you watch our film, and when you’re ready to travel again I’ll be here for you, both for trips around the UK, and to distant shores.
