Visitors to Hereford can now enjoy new contemporary artworks as they tour the city.
Eight fantastic contemporary sculptures have been unveiled in Hereford, completing the new public art trail across our city centre.

The sculptures have been created by talented artists from Hereford College of Arts and established artists linked to Hereford as part of a project jointly commissioned by HCA and Meadow Arts to celebrate 170 years of creative education in the city.

You can pick up a free copy of the map and trail from Hereford Tourist Information Centre.

Witness the much-anticipated traditional opening ceremony of Hereford's May Fair, which will take place on 7th May 3.45pm, outside Hereford Cathedral!

Members of the public are invited and encouraged to attend. The opening ceremony of the May Fair has age-old ties with the City of Hereford, stretching all the way back to 1121, when King Henry I granted the Bishop of Hereford the right to hold a three day fair. That makes the May Fair 903 years old!

Since 1838, it has been tradition to provide the Bishop with twelve and a half bushels of best wheat in payment for the fair. Though this has little significant value today, it was an appropriate payment for the Bishop when this tradition was established, and still occurs on a yearly basis to this day.

The civic event will take place outside of Hereford Cathedral, where the wheat will be weighted - as is custom - and the Bishop and the Mayor will exchange hands to declare the May Fair open.

Witness the opening of one of Hereford's most ancient celebrations on the 7th of May. For more information on the history of the May Fair, visit: https://herefordcitycouncil.gov.uk/may-fair/

🚨 NEW CIDER ALERT 🚨 To celebrate Hereford AppleFest we have teamed up with our wonderful friends Little Pomona, Orchard & Cidery and Oliver's Cider and Perry Ltd. and made a cider together! 🍏 NOW THAT IS CIDER 2022.

It will be available to buy during from tomorrow at the kick-off celebration at the CAMRA Marquee in Hereford High Town. This cider will only be for sale during the two weeks of AppleFest, but it will be coming back for next year's...!

This cider was made by blending cider together from each of us. We met together at Broome Farm and tasted through everyone's creations, with a goal to create a full bodied, rich and glorious cider that expressed, if it can be found, the character of Herefordshire cider. Produced from all Herefordshire apples, fermented, blended and packaged here. So it makes sense it should be drank here too. Come and visit for AppleFest - a two week long celebration of cidermaking all across the county.

This is in keg and bottle so you have different options to taste!

Drink At:
- Bromyard Sunday Market, 1st October.
- The Little Pomona, Orchard & Cidery Tasting Room, Saturday 30th September and Open Day, 8th October.
- Oliver's Cider and Perry, open on Saturdays.
- The Yew Tree Peterstow Cider Shop, any day!
- Hereford Beer House.
- And probably the Museum of Cider and Beer in Hand.
- Plus it will be served at the AppleFest Banquet on Saturday 14th October!
