Ukrainian singing workshop in Hereford with Galyna Grigoriadi.
We had a fantastic turnout yesterday for our first Ukrainian polyphonic singing Day with Galyna Grigoriadi in Hereford. We have learned 4 traditional songs and they sound absolutely beautiful. Galina Grigoriadi #singing #ukrainian #songs
Beautiful traditional Ukrainian pysanky eggs are available to purchase from my shop. Link in bio. They are created by Hanna and her granddaughter Marichka from the village Kosmach in Carpathian Mountains. We were fortunate enough to visit her and her family for Pysanky workshops during our tours to Ukraine. We last visited her family in July 2021.
It was such a pleasure yesterday to listen to Ukrainian voice of @galinagrigoriadi accompanied by clear sound of traditional instrument bandura in @courtyard_arts in Hereford. It was an emotional and poignant performance dedicated to 2nd anniversary of war in Ukraine. When I was listening to the lyrics of Ukrainian songs, tears were falling down my cheeks, I was thinking about people, about my country about pain that this war caused to our nation, Galyna left her hometown in Ukraine on the first day of war, took her husband, her 3 small children and her Bandura! We might be all sad, heartbroken after 2 long years of war or 10 to be precise but we will prevail, we are unbroken, we will survive. We are born to be free! Thank you for this beautiful music, thankful to be Ukrainian.
P.S:We also managed to raise £558 to support work of Hereford Help for Ukraine that helps Ukrainian refugees in Herefordshire and sends much needed donations of food and supplies to Ukraine.
