A little about us 👩‍❤️‍👨

Northumberland will always be special to us and in 2022, it became even more special when we got married at Woodhill Hall, Otterburn.

Friends from all over the country (and world) came to join us and many had not ever visited Northumberland.

To this day, we still hear so many happy memories from friends who stayed a little longer and explored the countryside/coast. They couldn't believe how beautiful it was ❤️

And that's where it all began! Two years later and we are proud owners of two gorgeous cottages full of history and character ☺️

We wanted to help many others escape into Northumberland and experience what is has to offer.

And boy does Northumberland do it well!

The countryside is turning orange and the views are absolutely stunning throughout our much loved countryside ❤️

Guests are not only loving the views but making the most out of the cold weather and snuggling up in front of the fire 🔥

We have many guests often travelling the whole length of the country to stay at Old Stables Cottage, Rothbury.

Our recent guests were travelling up from Cornwall and asked us what local shops, cafes and pubs were close by and within walking distance.

So we decided to walk the High St and point out some of our favourites 😊

Our very first cottage was a project that neither of us had much experience in.

We had 6 months to transform a 165 year old cottage into something that guests could build forever memories in ❤️

And based on the many 5 ⭐️ reviews, we are incredibly proud that Middles Cottage is doing just that 😊

FUN FACT 📣

In our Welcome Brochures at each cottage, we love to provide guests with some fascinating facts about Northumberland.

We thought we'd share a couple with our followers 😊

Did you know that Northumberland's unique breed of cattle are rarer than giant pandas 🐼

They are believed to be the sole descendants of herds that once roamed the forests of ancient Britain and have been living at Chillingham for more than 700 years.

In their lifetime, these remarkable beasts are never touched by human hands, and they are not not even treated by a vet. Their lives are kept completely natural and wild.

We are so lucky to have both stunning countryside AND some of the UK's best coastal attractions right on our doorstep ❤️

F U N A T T H E ZOO🐾

Northumberland Zoo is a fantastic day out for families and couples. Sarah had the pleasure of going there with her bestfriend and little boy, James, back in August. There are so many animals and creatures to see and you can easily spend a full day wandering around. They were even lucky enough to see the Snow Leopards! The day was complete with a little picnic and ice cream in the sun ☀️

It’s only a 20 minute drive from Old Stables cottage - why not add it to your activity list this Autumn, you won’t be disappointed.

When staying at our cottages, it's not just gorgeous Northumberland countryside that you can enjoy...

Some of our recent guests used Middles Cottage as the ultimate base for exploring😊

On a sunny day, they made their way over to the coast and after a delicious meal at the Fish shack, they were able to enjoy a beach to themselves in Warkworth ☀️

When close family friends stay at one of our cottages and say "What fun family activity can we do today that both the kids and adults will love?".

Well...it didn't take us long to book an activity just 25 mins from Middles Cottage 😊

Our friends at Turboventure helped us organise an incredible experience...Tank driving!

And what a memorable day it was. Laughter, blue skies, first time experiences and driving a tank across the Northumberland countryside ☀️

Recently, we've had an influx of guests staying at our cottages for 10-14 days at a time 😊

That means they are able to enjoy 10+ sunrises, 10+ sunsets, 10+ days of exploring the wonders of Northumberland and most of all....10+ days of escaping the normal and enjoying time away from everyday life ❤️

As we always say, we don't just talk about all the amazing things to do in Northumberland, we regularly experience them ourselves too 😊

With parents visiting, we took them to the wonderful Kielder Water & Forest Park to explore the moss covered wood and watch birds flying over the biggest man made lake in Europe.

All just a short drive from Middles Cottage 🚗

Simonside Hills are another favourite for our guests at Old Stables Cottage, Rothbury ❤️

The hills offer many activities, including walking, mountain biking, and horse riding. Some say the best time to visit is March through October.

And the great thing is...it's right on the cottage doorstep!
