🥰 We have witnessed breathtaking Aurora storms twice in the past ten months right here at the Hiddle Hut- genuinely amazing and extremely emotional experiences which I would love for our guests to experience too.
✨ Clear skies are forecast so plenty of opportunities to see shooting stars and with the Milky Way now well aligned and with no moonlight, our guests are already almost sure of a heavenly treat!
🔭 Our comprehensive stargazing kit ensures that our guests are fully equipped to experience the majesty of our immaculate dark skies! Just wrap up warm, lie back on the cushions provided for the stargazing platforms in front of the hut and count the asteroids as they stream across the inky sky! 🧣
🛌 The stargazing roof above the bed means that you can also just snuggle up in sublime luxury and watch as the aurora dances across the sky! 🤗
📱We recommend that guests download a stargazing app such as Night Sky to help navigation around the night sky! ☄️

💛 Let’s normalise slow Summers. Slow living denies that being busy equates to being successful or important. It means being present and in the moment, it celebrates quality over quantity, living with intent, being conscious and considered. To adopt a slower mindset is to switch off autopilot and make space for reflection and self-awareness.
💛 The Hiddle Hut design brings the outside and nature in. Surrounded by open countryside, the sunlight and starlight stream in through the huge windows creating a burnished glow as it reflects off the reclaimed wooden walls. The effect is comforting, like a gentle embrace.

I’ve recently been reminded of those things that bring real joy to my life. 🥰
💛 Most people who know us will know about our love for @elbowofficial who we first saw live at @glastofest in 2011 and many times since. Last weekend we travelled up to see them again in Glasgow with some very dear friends.Their songs hold so many memories and have been a great comfort during difficult times. 🪩
💛 With Spring comes the excitement of getting my hands in the soil and carrying out the planting plans that I formulate throughout the dark Winter evenings. I will be glued to all the @rhschelsea coverage on @bbc this week!
🌱One of the best purchases we have ever made was the greenhouse- my haven- now I can grow everything that I want from seed so it saves us money but also gives me immense satisfaction to grow our own food as well as flowers for hut guests to enjoy. 🌻
🏡 I adore our home. Mr.C and I have worked incredibly hard over the past 10 years to transform it! We undertook a huge renovation project to reconfigure the layout to make it work for our family. However, the garden transformation is what we are probably most excited by. We have planted several hedges, over 100 trees, built dry stone walls and planted nectar rich plants for pollinators and birds. The gardens have become a series of rooms, each one with its own unique personality and havens for wildlife. Next year we are installing a much longed for pond! 🌳
🥰 The Hiddle Hut was a dream that I had held for many years and if it had not been for the events of 2020 she wouldn’t stand as she does now in our little field across the lane! I am immensely proud of what we have achieved so far but this is only the start; with lots more collaborations to come with local businesses and guest experiences to roll out over the Summer, starting with our wine tasting event on Thursday evening with @northeasttastingclub

😀 We get lots of questions from guests about the Hiddle Hut but also from delivery drivers, hikers and cyclists on the Coast to Coast Route 72 Hadrians cycle path which passes the Hiddle Hut! 🚴♀️🚴♀️
🕰️ Most people want to know how the hut was built and how we got it in to the field! They also want to know where we found the quirky items such as the snow shoes and bowler hat! The simple answer is, I’m a bit of a Womble and LOVE to reuse and repurpose things that no one else wants! Charity shops call my name when I attempt to walk past 📣 and FBMP is a place I go to daily for a digital rummage- just for a look! 👀
👷🏼♀️ Having renovated three homes, we have picked up lots of skills, insights and ideas to create a practical and workable space that’s both comfortable and appealing. We are also seasoned caravanners having owned five touring caravans with different layouts, so I know a thing or two about making small spaces work hard! 😃
🧹As I do all of the cleaning and day to day maintenance of the hut, I also had specific plans to ensure that the hut functioned correctly and was easy to clean with twin bins for recycling and non-recyclable waste as well as A+ rated appliances.
🪜Having a bathroom upstairs was non-negotiable for me as that’s where the views from the bath and bed would set our hut apart! The next question was how to access the second floor! Ladders are just not my thing so a staircase was a must have! After lots of different configurations and designs, I decided on a spiral staircase and we snapped up this original Victorian staircase from EBay!
☺️ Our guests are always amazed at how well the space works and how much we have been able to fit in to the hut without it feeling cramped.

🫧 I’ve been using this method of cleaning our log burners at home for over 20 years! It doesn’t require any toxic chemicals or abrasive cleaning creams, just the cold wood ash from the previous evening and some good old fashioned elbow grease! 💪🏻
