We are passionate and experienced wild food foragers whose emphasis is upon sustainable foraging practices and creating delicious ingredients and recipes with our wild harvest. We make the most of the edible wild plants, mushrooms and game available to us here and are particularly accomplished wild food cooks with signature dishes ranging from mixed wild mushroom risotto to garlic leaf & nettle pe

sto, to balti rabbit pie and pigeon pastilla. In all, we enjoy sharing our passions, knowledge, special places and foods with like-minded folk – preferably around a campfire or by the range in our Wild Food Wagon kitchen! WILD SHENANIGANS

Providing scientific, environmental, creative and culinary activities relating to the natural harvest of the landscape Northern Wilds offers a unique way to experience the Northumberland countryside. On a foraging workshop we will teach you how to identify, prepare and cook wild foods seasonally plentiful in this landscape; these could be mushrooms our ancestors ate, medicinal herbs the Romans introduced or the ever abundant wild rabbit! Other outdoor or creative activities for families or groups range from bushcraft & campfire cookery to being imaginiative with the resources we find out in the wilds; making dens, wands, wings, bows & arrows, headresses or dream-catchers with materials such as branches & shoots, flowers & grasses and nettles & feathers! We can tailor our activities for your group or event; develop a theme or explore a specific location, combine activities or plan, prepare and enjoy a natural Northumberland feast! With our quirky Wild Food Wagon we can cater for your event. We can attend your event or offer bespoke event preparation and delivery. We are a distinctive presence and can provide unique experiences from culinary wild food delights, campfire cooking areas, outdoor occasion tents, music and visuals, to creative activities and awesome locations.

Buzzing like a bee... after a most beautiful day yesterday exporing... Foraging for wild flowers an tinder... to build a campfire... and light it with sparks... to cook stick bread and make wild flower tea... to drink with rose petal cupcakes, a big family & me... Buzzing like a bee...

Homegrown strawberries dipped in fine chocolate smothered in wild strawberries... I'm struggling to find words to describe this seasonal delight!
It's a must try if you're lucky enough to find a good patch... may the force be with you!

Foraging and enjoying this wonder at the moment! Known as 'Chicken of the Woods', Laetiporus Sulphureus, it is edible with a texture akin to chicken - it makes for a great curry - to preserve we slice it and lightly fry in butter then freeze. This specimen is very young... They grow much larger but get tougher with age... Happy Foraging...

I've been working with lava seaweed in preparation for our seaweed and sushi foraging event on the 14th April coinciding with national lava bread day. Dried seaweed is a wonderful ingredient in the kitchen, imparting deep umami richness to all it touches. Cold smoking the seaweed before drying adds another layer of flavour.
