Not an easy TT with bad weather and delays but also many highs . Well done to all in the Burrows/RK racing team and Dominic Herbertson a pleasure to work with all!
Isle of Man TT 2024.
It’s been another good TT for Burrows Engineering / RK Racing. Our first TT with Dominic Herbertson brought some great results, our second podium as a team and Dominic’s first as a rider being the obvious highlight in Supertwin Race 1.
In what was an incredibly difficult TT, plagued with bad weather, the organisers did a splendid job in fitting all but one race in to a very tight schedule at the end. Despite considerably less practice than 2023 we came out of practice week in a comfortable position with all bikes for the first Supersport race last Saturday. Dom managed to finish the 4 lap encounter in 11th place to kick start our TT. Sunday saw our first bit of misfortune arise as just a few miles into the race at Crosby, our Superbike developed a faulty tilt switch. After Sunday’s disappointment, we had to wait all the way to Wednesday evening for a weather window to arise for Supertwin race 1. Dom, went straight into the top 2 for the first lap before being overhauled by Peter Hickman. On lap 3, a titanic battle between Dom and Jamie Coward ensued with Dom eventually getting his first ever Isle of Man TT podium in what was a historic race, with Michael Dunlop taking his 27th win around the island. Thursday morning saw the turn of the Superstock race. Dom rode a fantastic race to 9th place, with a 130.5mph final lap, his fastest ever lap around the island and the team’s first 130mph lap on our bikes. It was a long wait to Saturday afternoon for the final action packed day of racing at TT24. In Supersport Race 2, our race ended prematurely with engine failure on lap 1 at Ginger Hall. In Supertwin Race 2, over 2 laps, Dom built into the race, taking third place going onto the second lap and stretching the advantage by Ramsay on lap 2. A incident brought out the red flags and subsequently the result was took from the end of lap 1 when we were lying 4th. In the Senior TT, whilst lying in 9th place, we had a clutch failure on the 4th and final lap at Crosby. Whilst we had a few DNF’s, this TT had so many positives. All our bikes went round the island faster than ever before, Dom went round the island faster on every bike to previous. Our first 130mph lap as a team. And Dom’s first and our second podium as a team. We are extremely grateful to all our team members for their tireless work across the fortnight. Sponsors and partners for their unwavering support, with special mentions to Graeme Hanna for giving us his Paton S1R for the event and Charlotte Richardson of RK Racing.

“My first TT is complete with the Burrows Engineering / RK Racing squad. We have achieved personal bests on all the bikes this week which is a big positive. Riding a Superbike around here is a massive challenge as I’ve found out but we done a good job with the limited laps in practice with 4 bikes to try get into a window. I turned up here this year not expecting a podium, not machinery wise but from myself. Graeme Hanna of IFS provided a fantastic machine and the Burrows boys had it faultless all week, I’m glad everyone was in the race and the podium was earned on merit. The 130.5 in the Superstock race and a top 10 was a great result. I have a lot to take away from this TT and build on but I am happy with PB’s in every class. Thank you to the Burrows Engineering / RK Racing squad for their tireless work in the past two weeks.

“It’s been a good two weeks on the grand scheme of things. The schedule got knocked about a lot and it was a tough TT weather wise. Results wise, obviously another TT podium for my team was the cherry on top, it’s a great feeling walking into that winners enclosure. On the big bikes, I really hoped dom could get the bikes round at over 130mph this week and he did, so that was a big box ticked. We had our issues with mechanicals but it wasn’t something the team or I could have foreseen. Whilst it was disappointing at the time, in hindsight, Dom put all our bikes round the course faster than they have ever been and he did a great job for the team. Thanks to all the boys in the team for their work over the fortnight and all our loyal sponsors for their support. “
