Meet Joe in Germany and in Vassiliki

We are delighted to announce that Joe Bennett, Wildwind manager extraordinaire and now of Joyrider TV fame - now with over 10 million views on his YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/ - will not only be speaking on the main stage of the Sailing hall at the Düsseldorf Boat Show https://boot.com, but will also be holding an exclusive week of catamaran training at the Wildwind base in Vassiliki in the early season of 2025 (week of May 4th ).

While Joe will be loosely based at the Hobie Cat Association Stand (Hall 15 D) from the 20th to the 23rd January, he will be making his presentation on the main stage at 11:00 on the 21st and 14:00 on the 22nd, talking about different types of catamaran. Anyone attending will become one of the elite 1% of the world's population when it comes to knowing about the various styles and developments of catamarans.

Advanced Catamaran Skills Week with Joe
May 4th , high-off advanced skills for experienced specialists

The training is limited to only 8 candidates and will be primarily using Hobie Formula 18 Tigers, although the Wildwind fleet also includes Tornados, Goodall C2 as well as Hobie FX One, 16's and 14 - all of which Joe has plenty of experience in during his 27 years at Wildwind.

Experience required: you should be comfortable sailing around a course, tacking, gybing, experience trapezing as a crew member at least and know how to right a capsized boat, all in winds of up to about 16 knots.

This course is designed for those who have experience sailing a catamaran with daggerboards and a spinnaker, and for seasoned catamaran sailors ready to advance their skills and start using a spinnaker

Thank you so much for voting for Wildwind in the British Travel Awards once again!

This year, we were particularly surprised and more than delighted to have received a Bronze Award for Best Small Sports/Activity Holiday Company, given that there were now more companies than ever competing in our category, almost all of them much larger than ourselves.

The British Travel Awards are the biggest awards in our industry, and they're particularly important as they are voted on by the travel public itself. We are so grateful for having such a loyal client base.

Winning in the British Travel Awards consistently since 2019, including being the top dog three times, really tells us we must be doing something right! So, once again, on behalf of our entire team, thank you for your continued support, we greatly appreciate it!

It's November, so spring is in the air! That is, if you're in the Southern hemisphere, like the amazing team manning our Mauritius base. Here, summer is just one more month away - and you're invited!

If you've never lived to experience a tropical Christmas, you're missing out. There's nothing like working up some appetite for the Christmas dinner than going on a barefoot stroll along the beach. And how would you feel about spending Boxing Day on your favourite dinghy or cat, riding the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean?

A white Christmas is guaranteed, provided you're willing to sail to the white sandy beaches of one of the nearby islands, or walk about 200 meters from the hotel to the spectacular Mont Choisy Beach. You may be forgiven for forgetting about snow shovelling, slippery walkways and frozen fingers altogether, as you make yourself comfortable in a hammock strung between two sturdy palm trees, or as you approach the coastline from the lovely warm waters (25°-30°) of the Indian Ocean with your loved ones by your side - either starboard or port, if they're not right behind you on a favourite boat of their own.

What's more, in the month of December, the sun's position makes the colour of the Indian Ocean turn an otherworldly, bright cyan that you've surely never seen anywhere else before.

We are now officially full until the end of the season. But… by popular demand, we have extended our season with one extra week. For this additional week that we announced a few weeks back, we still have a limited number of places available. "Another terrible day at the office," says Simon Morgan, founder of Wildwind, with a grin. About to turn 67, he's still an avid sailor. Currently, the Wildwind CEO is training for the forthcoming Hobie 16 European championships in Garda next month. Simon says he feels incredibly privileged: "Not only do I get to do what I love for a living, but all I have been able to share my passion with so many people from all over the globe".
