Come along & explore our corner of North Devon/Cornwall with your furry friends . . paws and relax awhile 🐾 🌳 🐶 🌺 🐝
A short drive from Town Farm Devon Holidays is Sandymouth one of our favourite all-year-round dog-friendly beaches 🐶 🐾
On a low tide Sandymouth offers:
- A wide sandy beach to walk & run along
- Rock pools to explore 🦀🐟
- A seasonal cafe ☕️(open during the summer & holiday weekends ‘out of season’)
- Toilets (open seasonally)
- Lifeguards during summer season
The car park is operated by the National Trust:
- Pay & display (+ attendants during summer)
- During peak summer/school holiday periods the car park can be full by 11am
- An ‘overflow’ field car park does operate (at some distance further up the lane)
There is a steep slope down to the beach with steps, and cobbles at the top of beach.
There is *No Beach* available at high tide.
We prefer to visit two hours each-side of low tide.
On a low tide there is a shipwreck at the far end of the beach towards Northcott (south or ‘left’ when you walk down the steps onto the beach). The SS Belem ran aground in heavy fog on 20 November 1917. The wreck has become a site of archaeological importance, with parts of the boilers, a prop shaft, parts of the hull and stern visible.
