Following this boat this morning ( I was passenger). Mary Ann. Crab boat heading to Rescue wooden boats I’d think. Out near Morston. This is Kelling Heath. I always see a pair of Red kites whenever I go that way,partridges running across the road and the odd hare too. As children we would stop at the Heath to pick blackberries on Sunday afternoon. We would go and see nanny n grandad at Blakeney then come this way home to then visit my nanny n grandad in Sheringham. My grandad was a master baker and confectioner in the war and up to the 1980s. Bread, doughnuts and sticky buns were common place at their house. Big old aga always cooking something. Nan was known for her steak n kidney puddings. Rib stickers ! This boat is probably from Sheringham or Cromer going for a refurb

I’m so so close now to receiving the keys of my newest Cottage in Blakeney. That’ll be the trio ! “Pimpernel”
I’m Expecting the keys this month. It’s exciting as now I can offer a log burning stove and a multi dog friendly cottage too. The flooring downstairs will be ideal for doggos and I’ll be putting in a leather sofa too. The plan is to put some picket fencing round on my land outside so the door can be left open for those all important wees ! I’ve also worked out that upstairs will just about accomodate 2 bedrooms ! One double bedroom ,One single bedroom. So do I go bunks? Or trundle bed ?
Thoughts …..
Also. It’s ideal if any groups want to come . 2-3 couples if I have the same weeks availability they can come together - Do I keep the bath ? The Shower is over the bath. Or is a shower enough ?

I think many Holidayers wonder if Blakeney actually has any Blakeney people in it and if not why not ? My mother was one of 8 children born between 1937 and 1960.
The oldest 87 ,lives in Cromer. Next to the Hospital. With his wife Pat
Roy lived in Langham most of his life with June. They moved to Blakeney about 10 years ago next door to the Village hall ! He’s now passed away 84 but his wife is about 95 and still lives there.
My Mum 80 passed away in feb 2022 here in Edingthorpe My father passed away here in Edingthorpe this May. 87
Doreen lives in Baconsthorpe. She’s about 81
Tony 77 lives in Peterborough or near there. He’s been in Dereham,Sheringham in the past .
Malcolm lives in Field Dalling 75 with his lovely wife Deborah
Christine has always lived in Blakeney I think she’s early 70s !
My uncle Trevor is the youngest and is prob 70 or just under. He and his wife Susan live on the high street right at the top. My Nan n grandad had that very same cottage when first married I believe. They had 3-4 children in a 2 bedroom cottage top to toe ! Back then. The council houses were built along langham rd and my grandparents got no 7 queens close. They qualified back then because of 4 children. 🙈. 4 more came along subsequently. In a 3 bedroom semi ! People managed. Eating rabbit stew and pheasant .

Blakeney Church. I was christened there along with my Cousin Melissa on Armistice Sunday 11 th November 1973 . I was 8 months. My Cousin was a little older . She currently lives in Dereham . Many of my Cousins - I have 12 cousins on my Mothers side (nee Preston )
Donna - was a specialist nurse in Adenbrookes Hospital
Her brother Nigel - lives in Norway I believe .
Carl - great musician guitarist and is a painter and decorator In and around Sheringham
His sister Julie - lives in Shepton Mallet Somerset
Their half brother Jordan he’s in Norwich and works in security at Lotus cars in Hethel .
Paul lives in Bedfordshire. He’s in Construction
His sister Tania lives in Cromer. A hairdresser and works in the local school
Daniel works as a carpenter around Holt
His brother James ,has a fabulous restaurant in Norwich XO kitchen. Jay Rayner raves about him ! James lives in Norwich . He’s even been on Radio 4 Saturday kitchen !
Melissa lives in Dereham and I believe she’s a cleaner at the local surgery there , her daughter plays football for kings Lynn town !
Her sister Tracy is also in Dereham but disabled in a wheel chair from an accident
My cousin Claire recently moved to South Carolina USA after a career with Emirates Airlines for 20 years , she was in Dubai for many years , married to Guytano , an American in 2021 at Morston Hall .
My brother Simon lived in North Walsham and ran / partner in my parents electronics business . If you’ve heard of Euronics my parents helped set that up so that independent electrical retailers had more buying power on the high st. It’s now countrywide I believe in most large towns.
I live in Edingthorpe , Worstead before that, and from the age of 18 I had my own hair and beauty salon in North Walsham 91-17. Still part time today ! Along with the Cottage letting too!

Lorry rides taking place today , the lorry ride takes you around the camp and shows you the anti-aircraft guns , the R.A.F radar installation and the fine views of the Norfolk coast , its bumpy but fun ! Lorry rides start at 11am and are £3 per person .

Dad’s drawings for the planners. We already owned jib and spar. The one on the right was Jollyboat as it was to be to tie in with the others. Note that the upstairs window in jolly wasn’t approved Dad did all the work , such a talent.
