Wood burner for chilly nights and campfire area. The Yurt at Oakdean Cottage is a gorgeous place to unwind and breathe. Everything you need for a peaceful stay right on the south east edge of the Forest of Dean. The yurt has an extremely comfortable double bed and a pull out sofa double bed, with clean wood flooring and vintage and upcycled furniture finds. A wood burner provides heat on chilly ni
ghts - and it does get very cosy when it is lit! The yurt is built into a steep hillside on a raised decking platform between the trees, with steps up to the door and gorgeous views of rolling countryside. A modern fitted bathroom with hot water, shower, and flushing loo are 20 meters from the yurt, which is private for your sole use for the duration of your stay (as are all of the facilities described here). The small kitchenette also has a washing up sink, hot water, a kettle, toaster, and kitchen essentials. There is an outdoor cooking area with a campfire grill for BBQ or campfire cooking, and a separate covered seating area with a camping electric oven and hob if lighting a fire feels too much! There are hammocks in the trees for complete relaxation. You will have a dedicated parking space a short walk from the yurt (approx 40 meters along uneven hillside paths), and there is a large garden area to enjoy when not out roaming. The yurt is insulated with a hybrid of modern insulation and traditional yaks wool, which keeps some of the heat out in the summer and more heat inside in the autumn and spring. We love it here, and we hope you will too. You can see reviews from previous guests on our website: www.oakdeancottage.com
