Loving the idea of street food, cuddling a star fish and foot golf! Feel a short drive over to Lyme coming on!😂

If you're planning a visit to Lyme this weekend, here's a few ideas for you. On Friday evening from 4pm the first Lyme Eats Boutique takes place on Gun Cliff below the Marine Theatre with a great choice of street food to tempt your taste buds, all washed down with local beverages served by the Salty Arms.

Head to the Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium to hold a starfish, have your fingers kissed by their shoal of tame mullet and get up close with lobsters, crabs and other wonderful marine life from the Jurassic Coast.

Just a few minutes walk from the seafront is The Town Mill where a volunteer miller will take you on a free guided tour through the three floors of the stone-built watermill while demonstrating the art of flour making. After visiting the Mill, check out the Drawn to the Water exhibition at the Malthouse Gallery which is set to make waves in Lyme Regis as five accomplished artists come together to present their collective vision of the Jurassic Coastline.

There's something to delight and inspire everyone at Lyme Regis Museum with displays covering Lyme’s lively local history, spectacular fossil collections, famous writers and of course Lyme’s most famous fossil hunter, Mary Anning.

Jurassic Footgolf is a great fun activity for the whole family and is located on the outskirts of Lyme Regis at Strawberry Field. The 9 hole course combines the best of football and golf, with the objective to get the ball into the hole using only your feet and in the fewest number of shots possible.

Take a stroll down Broad Street and along Coombe Street and visit some of Lyme's independent shops.

A fabulous photo of inside a beehive. If any of our queen bees ever stay still long enough I'd love a photo like this! 😂

This picture was taken from our Hive in Knaresborough!
This incredible Queen cracked her whip and got her colony to take advantage of the wild flowers down near the River Nidd and surrounding areas.
As climates change the Bee population is severely being affected. As a result our new educational centre will offer help and support so we can try and protect and keep bees safer this year.
Education centre opening very soon at our shop on green dragon yard, Knaresborough.

They've done it! The incredible Ice Warriors Alan Chambers MBE and Dave Thomas have reached the South Pole after 59 gruelling days on the ice battling brutal weather conditions, fatigue and sharing the worst jokes in the world!😂
For Al this marks the end of a 30 year career in polar exploration, 16 times to the North Pole; 3 times to the South Pole and along the way he's helped raise over £15million for charitable causes.
For Dave Thomas a massive achievement as at 68 years and one month old, he is now officially the oldest person to ever reach the South Pole unassisted and has secured his place in the Guinness Book of Records.
An amazing achievement lads! Well done, we are in awe of you both!

Good luck Al and Dave!

Alan Chambers - MBE Fellow of Explorers Club & the RGS
Adventurer, former Royal Marine, author and philanthropist

A former Royal Marine Commando, Alan Chambers has helped
to raise over £14 million for charitable causes, by leading extreme expeditions and exploring over 70 countries from the North and South Pole. Alan’s resume of world-firsts and adventures is truly endless.

Alan and Dave fist skied across Iceland coast to coast while
both serving in the royal marines and have remained buddies for 30years. Now they embark on another epic expedition together across antarctica.

Awarded an MBE for leadership in constant adversity, Alan is a devoted educator and motivational speaker. In 2012 Alan conceptualised and launched, ‘Extreme Classrooms’, changing the lives of special needs children through mentoring, adventures, and sports in extreme locations. Classrooms were constructed in over 12 locations, from the Himalayas to the great rift valley in Africa, designed to build confidence and resilience in the students - the initiative was later featured on the BBC and Sky networks.

Our very good friend Dave Thomas and Alan Chambers MBE, both former RM (of course) are on their way to ski unsupported to the South Pole. On the way across the ice they'll be looking into the effect of nano plastics in the Antarctic environment and studying human performance in the extreme environment, well they'll need something to do on the 702 mile trek!
They have some amazing sponsorship in place, so every penny you throw in the donation pot will go to The Royal Marines Charity.
Here's the fundraising page - https://www.justgiving.com/page/alan-chambers-1699910248881
Important dates:
Start of the haul from Hercules Inlet due to be 18th November.
Endex - around 2nd week of January 2024
They're aiming to complete in 55 days or less - challenge on!
Finally, with a combined age of 123 years (most of which is Dave Thomas) Dave will be the oldest man to complete this route! That's gotta be worth throwing a few shekels in the pot!😂
Go smash it lads, it's going to be hoofing!!
