It’s that time of year again! I love seeing the bluebells in the woods above the canal in Slaithwaite, a sign that Spring is well and truly here! There are so many wonderful country walks around Merchant’s Cottage, why not come and see for yourself?

Looking back today to see just how far we’ve come…..the country dining kitchen as it is today, with underfloor heating, new appliances and as fully equipped as we’d like to find in any home-from-home holiday cottage…and as it was in March 2021, as the country began to open up and we were preparing for our very first guests! Why not come and visit? Available for short breaks and longer, ideally placed for all the wonderful amenities that. Honley has to offer snd conveniently placed with good transport links for Holmfirth, Yorkshire and the Peak District ❤️

Hope you enjoyed a cuppa on National Cup of Tea Day….and what better than to enjoy it with than a lovely slice of cake? The sun hasn’t shone in Yorkshire today but on days like these at least Merchant’s Cottage has a woodburner to curl up in front of with a book or magazine, to settle down and ignore the weather! I’m sure this week’s sunshine will be back soon 🤞🏻…..Happy weekend everyone!

We’ve had a lovely Easter weekend in Yorkshire, with warm sunny weather - a welcome relief after all the inclement weather recently! Our Easter guests left today and we are welcoming more guests this evening - but we do still have some availability in the coming weeks if you fancy visiting 😊…..10% discount for guests booking directly with us.

Todays walk in Honley Woods was all about the toadstools 🍄- I’ve never come across so many on a single walk, and in the most amazing shades of red - sign that Autumn is well and truly on the way! 🍁🍂.

A lovely morning walk along the canal from Slaithwaite to Marsden. Both villages are within a short drive of Merchant’s Cottage and, like Honley, both offer a wonderful range of independent shops. We weren’t blessed with sunshine but as we walked round a bend in the path we came across this beautiful display of bluebells - a perfect start to the day! A comfy place to sit and read on a gloomy, snowy day. You might even be tempted to light the woodburner! After all the beautiful weather we’ve had recently I think the snow has come to remind us to appreciate the sunshine!

We have enjoyed the most beautiful weather in Yorkshire recently! This was an amazing sunset over Wessenden Head, viewed from Wilshaw village. Merchant’s Cottage, Honley is only 10 minutes drive from here, and is a wonderful, home-from-home, traditional Yorkshire cottage that comfortably sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms.
