After what seems like months of indifferent weather, it was great for the soul to see the miniature fruit trees and plants in the gardens of our holiday cottages in full bloom with the long-awaited sunshine over the last few days!

Now we're very much looking forward to seeing if our gorgeous fruit trees will bear fruit for the first time later this year!

On a bit of a grey day, it was wonderful to see a clear sign that the warmth, light and promise of Spring is just around the corner - the first blossom on the apricot tree in The Beach House garden.

Just beautiful. And who knows, maybe it will produce its first apricots for those staying at the cottage later in the year!

Our doggie spa has always been a big hit with the great many gorgeous fur babies that holiday in our cottages. Well we just wanted to let all doggies (and their humans) know that we’ve now upgraded our doggie spa.

It now has a lovely mixer tap so the water temperature can be absolutely perfect for your individual dog. And what’s more, the hose has an amazing 7 different water settings, with everything from mist to gentle jets, for that ultimate doggie spa experience.

Now your beloved doggies will never want to leave the cottages!

Hi everyone, we just wanted to give you a quick heads up that available dates for our cottages for 2024 are disappearing fast.

The Beach House is already 83% booked for the first 6 months of 2024. And Salty Paws is 70% booked for the same period. There is more availability in the 2nd half of the year.

After a day working getting our beloved cottages ready for our next lovely guests, this is the treat to myself.

A 2 minute stroll to the sea. Taking a bit of time to just stand and watch in wonder at the amazing-ness of nature.

Sometimes the sun is shining and the tide is out, sometimes like today it's cloudy and the tide is in. But it's always beautiful, always wholesome and always revitalising for the soul.

The stunning beach in Mappleton, just at the end of the road where our cottages are, really is a beautiful hidden gem.

Even in this gorgeous late summer warmth and sunshine the beach is always so uncrowded, as you can see from the photo.

Hands up if you just love snugs! Our hands (and Mabel’s paws) are definitely up.

The snug in our Beach House is a super cosy, special place. Many guests tell us it’s their favourite place to sit, and relax or daydream or whatever.

Whether it’s enjoying that first coffee in the morning as the day gets going, or a delicious glass of wine in the evening as the sun sets after a wonderful day out exploring the gorgeous East Yorkshire coast.

And with the French doors open, you can sometimes hear the sea at the end of the road, which is always a little magical.

You can just sit for hours, doing as much or as little as you want. So good for the soul.

The large, sumptuously relaxing living room in The Beach House has always been one of our favourite rooms ever since we completely refurbished the cottage in November 2021.

And it has been with so many of our guests. We’ve been asked frequently where we bought many of the items in the room, right up to some guests practically wanting to recreate the room in their own home because they loved it that much!

As well as just being gorgeous, it’s a wonderfully calming space to spend time in, relaxing, chatting, laughing and enjoying your holiday to the full.

And it offers so much. Cosy log burner (perfect for those December evenings as December dates are the only ones still available for 2023), super comfy chairs to snuggle down in, a delicious complimentary gin bar in a telephone box (of course!), sublime rocking chair (try to stop yourself nodding off in that!). And on a clear day you can see the sea from the window.

It’s just dreamy. Can you imagine yourself there?

Our beloved cocker spaniel Mabel always likes to think she is a big help on changeover days, when we’re getting the cottages ready for our next lovely guests.

Here she is in the first photo ‘looking after’ the hose pipes filling the hot tubs up with fresh water for the next guests, a very important job.

And a few months ago she very kindly donated her time to pose for our newly created doggie spa. She looks happy about it, doesn’t she?

The third photo shows just how exhausting changeover day at the cottages is for her!

Of course your gorgeous pooches don’t have to do any work whatsoever when they come to stay. Although they may still end up like Mabel in the third photo after a day exploring and gallivanting around the stunning, dogs' paradise that is Mappleton beach at the end of the road.

The gorgeousness of Mappleton beach on the beautiful East Yorkshire coast. This video was taken at 11 o’clock this morning (24th August). So school holidays, temperature already a lovely 24 degrees, warm gentle sea breeze, and just look at how empty the blissful beach is. Our holiday cottages are just 2 minutes’ walk from this beach. So you too could have the beach practically all to yourself. And what’s more, they’re dog friendly all year round.
