HEPA filters have even gone into space, where they are used to purify the air on the International Space Station! NASA also used complete portable HEPA filter walls to augment the contamination control of the airflow at the launch site of the Webb telescope.

Last Friday we had the pleasure of attending The Sussex Chamber Business Awards Dinner at the Crowne Plaza Felbridge.

EMCEL were nominated for an award The Global Player Export Business of the Year category and were placed in the top 3.

This is an excellent reflection of the efforts every section puts into their work.
The teamwork involved in exporting and manufacturing is phenomenal.

Happy Clean Air Day! 🏞

Air pollution is one of the greatest environmental risks to health. According to studies from the University of Oxford, “If just 10% of the population were to change travel behaviour, the emissions savings would be around 4% of lifecycle CO2 emissions from all car travel.”

So here are a few tips how we all can take actions reduce air pollution today:
- walk, wheel or use public transport today to reduce your exposure and contribution to air pollution,
- if you drive, try leaving the car behind on Clean Air Day and one day every week.

If you feel like you also need air filtration in your buildings, we are here to help! 🙂

Happy Fun Filter Fact Friday! 😊

This week, we have something historical to share about HEPA filters.

HEPA filters – short for High Efficiency Particle Arrestance – use special fibres, commonly made of paper or glass, to trap airborne particles, such as dust, mould, and other particulates, but did you know that HEPA filters were originally designed with much more dangerous particles in mind?

Developed in the 1940s, HEPA filters were an important part of the Manhattan project. Radioactive particulates used in the project could become airborne, and scientists needed a filter that could clean the air while keeping them safe. It wasn’t until a decade later that HEPA filters began to be used commercially in homes, hospitals, and other areas where having clean air was essential.
