Holidays to be taken in any of our 5 properties, MidPark, Butlers Cottage, Bailies Cottage, The Pheasantry and The Guardhouse.
Please note that The Guardhouse is closing to holiday guests from the end of February 2025.
Vouchers cannot be used on Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights.
Holidays must be taken before 1st December 2025.
Once dates have been chosen, the voucher is considered to be redeemed and holiday dates cannot be changed.
Vouchers are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
Offer is valid until 23rd December 2024.

Autumn is one of our favourite times of the year here at Mayen, when the landscapes blush from green to gold and the skies awash with pinks and blues. ⁠

October can be a somewhat unpredictable month where we could be basking in Autumn rays one minute and battening down the hatches the next. ⁠

Foraging is becoming more and more popular and one of my favourite things to do, from collecting apples to scavenging pine cones and mushrooms (chestnut Mushrooms are our favourites!). ⁠

It’s Saturday and Summer, which can only mean it’s time for S’mores! ⁠

Pop in to The New Inn for a taste of their Foggieloan Real Ale!

We are pleased to announce that after the passing of permissions in 2021 the 'Foggieloan" Brewery is up and running with our own brewed real ales. This has been after a series of renovations and the putting together of our brewery.
Gary developed his knowledge further in brewing at the beginning of this year working with experts.

We have developed four real ales -
Auld Broon abv 5.5
Foggie Harbour abv 3.6
The Maltster abv 4.4
Work Horse avb 4.1

The names have been chosen very carefully with reasons local to our village. We have had the ales up and running as we developed each one ( we decided on recipes that were then brewed and then tasted for overall approval) . We were then able to develop the marketing names, and decide on a brand logo. We have been in the Camra Guide since 2012 for the keeping and maintaining of real ale.

Lots more to tell you and there will be more posts about the Brewery journey for The New Inn at a later date.

Its been an amazing enjoyable journey and as always we enjoy moving forward. 🙂

We’re off to the show!

Show season is upon us, and it’s always an exciting time for our local towns and villages to show off to the world. Celebrating its 160th year, Turriff Show is Scotland’s largest agricultural show and is set to welcome over 30’000 guests to the stunning market town by the end of its 2nd day today!
⁠
But there’s a lot more to agricultural shows than just farming, with exhibitors showcasing the finest quality food and drink, crafts, clothes, cars, flowers, animals, carnival rides and so much more for all the family to enjoy. ⁠

There is always a project or two on the go here at Mayen, and our latest one is finally complete, which has given Bailies Cottage two beautiful new bathrooms! ⁠
⁠
We have added a stunning ensuite bathroom in the downstairs bedroom, with heritage fittings including a roll top bath and a walk in shower.  We are especially pleased with this addition, as it means we now have a bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor of the cottage, which will be wonderful for our guests with reduced mobility.  ⁠

We have also renovated the existing family bathroom in Bailies Cottage and we have to admit that the results are just fabulous!  ⁠

Come on holiday at Mayen and we’ll teach you to catch a salmon!

Double success this week, with two of our guests catching their first salmon, under the skilled instruction of our Ghillie, Kevin. Huge congratulations to both Dan who was fishing for the first time ever and Mike who came all the way from the USA!

Our fishing experience is a unique opportunity to give salmon angling a go. Perfect for couples and families with teens, it’s a wonderful way to spend time outdoors and ground yourselves in nature.

Exclusively available to our holiday guests, we’ve found the magic formula to be a day experience with a dedicated Ghillie for your party, so that we can make sure you’ll have a fantastic time.
