It’s 6 years ago today when we bought Kits Cottage. It hadn’t been lived in for 14 years, owned by the same family for 62 years, and it took us 2 years to turn it into a lovely place to stay for your holidays.

The Gatekeeper, Etchinghill (about 10 mins drive from Kits) is dog friendly, has a nice real fire and serves great food. Perfect for a winters day.

Lots to look forward to in December.

December is very nearly here. Are you ready for those Festive feelings to really kick in?

This week, we've got our first late night shopping experience (Thursday 1st Dec, 5pm - 9pm) with a screening of Nativity! at 6pm, Festive Rock N Roll from Bamboozle on Saturday 3rd December at 1pm in our Festive Food Village with a screening of Christmas classic Home Alone at 4pm in The Goods Yard.

Then, on Sunday, it's our first choral event of the season, as The Rock Choir fill the station with a range of Christmas classics at 5pm.

Near Kits are a few sound mirrors; an early ‘radar’ system. You can visit these on certain days by booking via the RSPB as it’s on a bird reserve.

Queen Elizabeth II

On behalf of the railway, we would like to send our condolences to the Royal Family at this sad time, following the death of our longest reigning monarch, Her Majesty the Queen.

We have decided to prepare No.8 Hurricane, the locomotive that hauled the Royal Train when the Queen visited in 1957, and to position her with the Royal Saloon which will be on display until Monday 19th September.

Near Kits Cottage are Sound Mirrors; listening ‘ears’ used to track enemy aircraft. Three are at Denge, a RSPB reserve, and only open on special days which you can book in advance. It’s worth a visit.
