Chatsworth is home to the Devonshire family and has been passed down through 17 generations.
House highlights include the Painted Hall, the Oak Room, the Chapel, the Sculpture Gallery & the Great Dining Room, amongst many others. It is also famous for its rich history, waterworks, sculptures, and Victorian rock garden. There is so much to explore in the 105-acre Chatsworth Garden.

Built in 1875, the Anderton Boat Lift is one of only two working boat lifts in the UK and was the world’s first major commercial boat lift.
This three-tier structure is often described as the 'Cathedral of the Canals'. During a combined 90-minute cruise & boat lift journey, you will learn all about the lift & the reason for it being built, which is fascinating. On this occasion, a Steam Fayre also enhanced this visit.

The nearby Anderton Marina is the perfect place for a relaxing group lunch in the quaint Moorings Restaurant, where all dishes are tasty & homemade.

Mechelen may not be the largest of cities, but it is a perfect base for exploring all of Flanders & the Brussels area too.
This historic city has a real concentration of heritage buildings including the iconic St Rumbold’s Cathedral, Burgundian Hof van Busleyden city palace, Het Anker brewery as well as many cosy streets, squares, quaint churches & much more.
Beautiful baroque façades line the banks of the river Dyle.

Located in a quiet leafy Brussels suburb, the Museum Van Buuren and its rose gardens are a delight.

Built in 1928, the house of banker and arts patron David van Buuren has an exterior typical of the Amsterdam School.
The interior, a tour de force of Art Deco, represents a unique ensemble brought together by renowned decorators from Belgium, France and the Netherlands. The rare furniture, carpets, stained glass, sculpture and paintings by Belgian and international masters from the 16th to the 20th century have remained in their original places, giving this museum the intimate character of a private home.
The gardens are also a masterpiece of landscaping.
