ACCESSIBLE BEDROOM; features we thought you should know about! TWO profiling beds, one with an airflow mattress AND adjustable rails. The other has an adjustable height. Our electronic blinds enable the light levels of the room to be controlled wherever you are.
Sink and medicine cabinet are located in the room, along with a large screen, smart TV. The doors open straight up into our wrap around sensory gardens which are still buzzing will wildlife 🌺. The accessible bedroom is located off the main living space, with direct access to the wetroom and master bedroom.
We really have designed our property to enable those with complex care needs to enjoy a holiday with family and friends. Privacy, security and safety measures are in place to ensure everyone can relax on holiday.

TESTIMONIAL; We have stayed at a large number of adapted accommodations all across the UK, and without doubt can say the Big Tin Barn is the best we have used.

The equipment, both for the disabled users, and everyone else was outstanding, and we have never stayed anywhere so spacious. The owners also have a fantastic eye for tasteful interior design.

To top it off, there is a huge number of extremely good pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area – the 5Dials is minutes away, the Flying Fish (Caribbean) not much further.

It really is wonderful to hear how much our space has been enjoyed

The Big Tin Barn enables guests to relax, knowing physical care needs have been met and catered for… with in built alarm systems, medicine cabinets, hoist tracking systems, rise and fall units, profiling beds, space for carers, family and friends to enjoy a holiday, respite, use the high end equipment. We have made effort to ensure the barn doesn’t feel clinical with design and decor.

Visit the neighbours! As a working farm, we graze our highlands locally. Often they will visit the neighbouring Orchard and can been seen from the window. If you fancy getting closer, we have created wheelchair friendly access to their gateway into the field! To fully emerge yourself in the Somerset experience, we are soon putting in a wheelchair friendly gate to meet and greet our cattle in their barn, a short walk up the road.

NEW; Our Jiraffe bathroom chair is available on request during the booking process, as is the shower trolley. Upon booking, we will take down a few details to ensure the barn is ready as best it can be to meet all your needs during your stay. We do our best to cater for individual needs. Our accessible bedroom has two profiling beds, with the master bedroom next door, both connected by our accessible wetroom. With the option of two single beds or one king size, the master bedroom can be also be adapted 🙂

Our FULLY accessible barn; 4 bedrooms, sleeps up to 8, with our fully accessible bedroom with two profiling beds, medicine fridge, hoist and mobile hoist, adjoining accessible wetroom with rise and fall aqua spa bath, shower trolley, rise and fall sink and clean dry toilet with rails. Jiraffe chair and wheeled commode optional on booking…
A further two bathrooms to serve the other spacious double bedrooms. Upstairs we offer the use of an extra lounge for privacy and additional chill out space.
Our open plan kitchen diner at the heart of the barn offers rise and fall kitchen sink units, large dining space and a cosy snug with a wood burner to enjoy during the longer days of winter ahead 🔥 .

The whole house is heated, with underfloor heating running throughout. Our large games room offers the opportunity to enjoy spending time together even when the rain comes; with table tennis and table football the games barn is a work in progress and we hope to continue expanding and working on the space to make it even more inviting and comfortable!

We’ve enjoyed sharing the barn with lots of you this summer and can’t wait to continue to host in the future…

REVIEWS; We have stayed in many 'accessible' holiday homes with our son over the years and our recent stay at The Big Tin Barn blew them all out of the water. The fantastic design and attention to detail meant that we were relaxed as soon as we arrived. Rosie was great and videos are available to watch if you are unsure of any of the equipment. The decor is fabulous and we all felt at home, we also booked upstairs as our son's PA joined us, this enabled everyone to have their own space. Thank you for a fantastic stay and we look forward to returning next year.

Is there a better way to get a sofa upstairs?!

Our top floor can be rented for an additional price, to accommodate for larger groups and families. Top floor; double bedroom and ensuit and lounge.

We have laid the path through the garden this week, ready for our grass seed and a wildflower meadow mix. Next on the ‘to do’ list is finish fencing the orchard ready for the arrival of our new pigs! Our Kune kune pigs will always be grateful for a belly scratch in the sun 🐽 and will enjoy roaming the orchards down the farm track.
The first water lily has emerged on the pond and our aquatic plants have started to establish. We’re looking forward to watching the wildlife move in 🐸

Bedroom 1; FULLY accessible, two profiling beds, one with a pressure mattress, both with rails, complete with hoist to adjoining accessible bathroom, tv, sink unit and medicine fridge. Access to our outdoor gardens and patio is made easy by the double doors! Remote control blinds can be operated from bed and a call system has been installed in downstairs bedroom 1, our accessible bathroom and downstairs living space. A small tour of our accessible wetroom, all of the facilities; wheeled shower chair and hydraulically operated shower trolley are are available on request during the booking process! The property also has two more bathrooms!
