DID YOU KNOW…?
Ingleton’s swimming pool stands roughly on the site of the old Ingleton Manorial corn mill – demolished two centuries ago. The pool was built in the hot summer of 1933 and the work was done mainly by the miners from the Ingleton Colliery. Some materials were provided by the contractor of the bridge, which was under construction at the same period. As part of the pool was set in the river bed some said it would not stand the destructive force of the river. But, built of solid concrete, the swimming pool has survived as a worthy memorial to the volunteers who constructed it over half a century ago.
