Jacobite supporters, seeking to restore the Stuart monarchy to the British thrones, gathered to fight the Duke of Cumberland’s government troops. It was the last pitched battle on British soil and, in less than an hour, around 1,600 men were slain – 1,500 of them Jacobites.

Many visitors to Inverness will have enjoyed listening to busker John perform on the High Street. He’s a real asset to our town! 🎶❤️

🎉 𝟑𝟎 𝐘𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐒 𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐈𝐍 𝐈𝐍𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐂𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐄! ❤️

Victorian Market Busker John has reached a milestone this week and would like to say a huge THANK YOU for all the support he has received from the people of Inverness and beyond over his last 30 years of busking.

John originally came up to Inverness from Blackburn in West Lothian. He'd enjoyed visiting Inverness and decided to move here in 1993 living for his first few months in a tent.

His dog at that time was Frank, a lovely mongrel who he adored! Dogs weren't allowed in pubs back then and John couldn't get any gigs so that's when he decided to start busking. He took up a spot in the Market (near the clock) and became a regular busker continuing over the years always with his best friend by his side.

These days his companion is Moby who has learned to be a very good dog and will now happily lie in his bed whilst John performs.

We'd also like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to John for bringing so much joy to people in our community over the years - a true Inverness legend ❤️

If you’re visiting Inverness don’t miss the beautiful walk along the banks of the River Ness and across Ness Islands, taking in the wobbly bridges!

Does anyone know if this one wobbles?? 🤪 We have two well known suspension bridges across the River Ness in the city centre. Both known for their wobble! 😵‍💫🤣 This is the Infirmary Bridge and the one that is actually named the wobbly bridge is called the Greig Street Bridge. Both can be crossed with a short walk along the river Ness in the city centre 😃
