Dan and Karen have ridden all over the world with us. This summer, they chose to climb high into the alpine and struck gold in the Yukon Territory of Canada!

“We’ve had the chance to do a few H+I trips and always seemed to be dazzled by the fancy new outing and clicked past Yukon. Well, that was stupid - what an amazing destination!

“I was blown away by the quality + variety of the riding between Whitehorse and Carcross. Literally something for everyone - at some point during the week you’re going to ride your new favorite trail, likely a couple of times. The accommodations + food are not far behind.”

Sitting at a staggering 11,300ft, Margy’s Hut can be found deep in the backcountry of Aspen, Colorado. Part of the 10th Mountain Division, it has been a safe haven for adventurous skiers, hikers and bikers since 1982. The hut has no electricity, making it the perfect place to strip back to basics and to disconnect from the outside world.

With the help of your expert local guide, Colin, you’ll make your way to Margy's Hut for an evening high above the treeline. We’ll enjoy a delicious meal by the fire as we fuel up for what is sure to be an epic descent the next day.

Summer is great, but it can sometimes feel a bit frenzied as you try to pack in as much as possible before days start getting cooler and shorter.
That’s why we have a fondness for the fall, when things are a bit more chilled, and you can take time to enjoy your riding without that background hum of ‘summer vacation’.
It’s also the best time to explore certain places - without the crowds, without the intense heat - and here are our favourite places to ride e-mountain bikes in autumn:

🇮🇹 Tuscany - Olive groves, vineyards, islands, and mile upon mile of sensational singletrack, ideal for e-mountain bikes. On this E-MTB tour in coastal Tuscany you’ll indulge in all of the finer things in life: delicious local food and wines; exceptional riding; and traditional Tuscan accommodation, complete with private pool. It’s the perfect balance between old and new; hard work and ample reward.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Skye + Raasay - For a final fling before long nights descend upon the Scottish Highlands, you can join us for our epic Skye + Raasay adventure in September. This 4-day, action-packed MTB tour has been our most popular Scottish trip this year, and for good reason. Starting in the west coast fishing village of Plockton, on mainland Highlands, you’ll then head first to the Isle of Skye, then to the Isle of Raasay, taking in the most spectacular scenery and unique transport to get there.

🇳🇵 Nepal - If you’ve been diligently storing up holiday time and want to do something extra special to reward yourself for your hard work, head to Nepal in October, you won’t be disappointed. From the lush forests and bustling villages of the Kathmandu Valley, to the immense and arid landscapes of Lower Mustang, overlooked by the mighty Himalayas, every step of this journey is filled with adventure.

Travelling with your best friends and loved ones can be a truly life-affirming shared experience. Imagine celebrating that ‘big-birthday’ by descending down some of the world’s best singletrack, surrounded by your favourite people!
Every one of our adventures has its merits, of course, but we’ve chosen our top 5 adventures for groups who want to share an unforgettable experience together in 2025:

1. Ride the Good Life, Tuscany

This EMTB adventure strikes the perfect balance of riding and relaxation for keen e-mountain bikers. Picture you and your crew cruising down the fast and loose coastal trails of Massa Marritima, to end the day at your traditional Tuscan farmhouse, complete with private pool!

2. Coast-to-coast, Scotland

Nothing brings people together like a shared challenge, and our coast-to-coast is exactly that! Together, you’ll cycle 250km across the remote wilderness of the Scottish Highlands. There are some tough climbs and hike-a-bike sections throughout the week but as a team, you’ll work together to conquer each day. It’s an adventure in every sense of the word, so why not do it together?

3. Adventure is Golden, Yukon

Famous for the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1800’s, the abandoned prospector trails of the Yukon have now been reimagined into miles of action-packed singletrack for you to enjoy. On our Yukon adventure, you’ll find your home-from-home at our cosy mountain ranch, complete with private chef and hot tub! There’s nothing better than a hearty, home-cooked meal with friends after a big day on the bike.

4. Istria Green to Blue, Croatia

Sharing a plate of food - whether at the table or on the trail - with friends old and new is one of life’s true pleasures and there’s no better place to do that than in Croatia. As you mountain bike through Istria, from the lush green of the interior, to the turquoise blue of the Adriatic coast, you’ll experience a wonderful culinary journey. From truffles to swordfish, delectable cheeses and heady wines - there's something for everyone's tastebuds on our Istrian adventure.

5. The Ultimate MTB Experience, Namibia

Experiences rarely come as magical as this, especially when shared with your best friends. Riding your mountain bike through the desert and wilderness of Namibia, spotting elephant and giraffe as you go, and sharing stories round the campfire, underneath the Milky Way, is pretty hard to beat. You’ll spot indigenous wildlife in its natural habitat, camp under star-filled skies, and meet the local communities of Namibia. This is the perfect adventure both MTB and EMTB adventurers!

With over 10 years of experience as a mountain bike guide in the Scottish Highlands, Anna certainly knows how to make an adventure in the Cairngorms special.

“I cannot say enough amazing things about our guide, Anna! She was outstanding and not only guided our group, but also gave us some coaching tips and specifically helped me to gain confidence and try features I previously would not have thought I was capable of riding.
“The scenery was amazing, the guesthouse in Aviemore was wonderful, the planning was meticulous, and we loved being on a trip where we could just focus on having fun riding because all of the other details had already been taken care of.
“We can’t wait to go on another adventure with H+I!”

Fancy joining Anna in the Cairngorms in 2025? You can head to our website to see all of our 2025 departures now!

Our Skye + Raasay adventure is unique and wild with its challenging climbs and rough, technical descents. It’s true Scottish riding packed into 4 exhilarating days.

For Angus, guiding on the west coast, especially Skye, is always special. This is where his journey to becoming a guide began, and the place that fostered his love for exploring the remote, rugged landscapes of the Highlands.

Skip to 4 years later and he has just completed his first tour as our expert local guide for Skye + Raasay! The weather was challenging but our fantastic group of riders - from the US, Netherlands and New Zealand -kept the legs spinning and spirits high all weekend.

They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but our longest serving guide, Alex, learnt a few things when he guided our Highland Odyssey for the first time last month!

Alex has been guiding with us in Scotland for the past 15 years, focusing mostly on our coast-to-coast adventure and, more recently, the Skye + Raasay tour, which is on his home patch. The Highland Odyssey gave Alex the chance to explore more of the Cairngorms National Park, before heading over to the west coast where he’s most comfortable.

“Alex, our guide, came out of retirement and we were so lucky to have his local knowledge, flexibility and good humor.” Sara, Colorado.

It would seem you can teach an old dog new tricks! Well done, Alex.

In a world that's always in a rush, the kingdom of Bhutan provides a quiet sanctuary from the frenzy of modern life. As you travel through Bhutan you witness its unique fusion of ancient tradition, spirituality and modern innovation.

Situated on the eastern edge of the Himalayas, its rugged mountains and lush forests also make it the perfect destination for mountain bikers to test their mettle. Rider and photographer, Kristina, travelled from Australia to join us in April and experience trails that very few have ridden.

“Spirits are high, though we’re more focused on finding our Zen through the descent…
“We roll down steep hiking trails, dodging rocks, boulders, awestruck tourists and locals.
“We’re just soaking in the sheer thrill of it all. And when we finally reach the bottom, it’s time for celebration—beers, cheers, and laughter all around!”

From the dense pine forests of Grožnjan to the sparkling waters of the Adriatic, we've designed not one, not two but THREE tremendous tours that explore the picturesque nation of Croatia.

Istria from Green to Blue (MTB) - This adventure will immerse you in the laid-back way of life in this lesser-known corner of the Adriatic. Working hard on the bike each day, you’ll be rewarded with delicious local food and wine. As you journey from mountain to coast you’ll see a change, not only in landscapes, but also in cuisine. Truffles, meat and cheese make way for the freshest seafood dishes, straight from the boat – all accompanied by fine local wines.

Journey to Adriatic Bliss (EMTB) - Why not discover the Istrian peninsula by EMTB? As you move through the region, you'll explore medieval hilltop villages and valleys filled with flowing singletrack. On the coast, you'll swap roots for rock and enjoy the spectacular vistas of the Adriatic Sea as you descend back to your accommodation each night for a delicious meal.

Hvar Island Haven (EMTB) - On our 4-day E-MTB Tour on beautiful Hvar Island you will immerse yourself in “fjaka”, and absorb the fascinating ancient history of the region. Pedalling your e-mountain bike around Hvar Island – Croatia’s sunniest island – you’ll indulge in local culinary delights, such as grilled sea bass, fried squid, and black risotto at local “konobas”. At the end of a great day on the bike you can soak your muscles in the vitamin-rich Adriatic Sea, and sip a glass of local wine as the sun sets.

The summer season is well underway here in Scotland and our first reviews are in. A big thank you to Simon, Jeremy, Thomas and Martin for joining us on what was a tremendous start to our 2024 season.

“As lifelong mountain bikers, this was our first ever "package" tour, something we had always looked down on as a sterile route to boredom. The Odyssey was as far from this as you can imagine. An absolutely epic trip, with non-stop diversity and adventure.

“We had hoped for a wild experience that would challenge and delight us, and received this in spades.”

One of the best things about travelling and riding mountain bikes is the ability to immerse yourself in new cultures. The world we live in is a fantastically diverse and fascinating place, and being able to experience different cultures with our mountain bikes is something really special. From Buddhist stupas in Nepal, to mint tea rituals in Morocco, here’s some our favourite cultural MTB adventures:

Nepal - From the moment you arrive in Kathmandu you’ll be in the thick of Nepali urban culture. People, bikes, mopeds, trucks, tractors, monkeys, dogs, cats… it’s a maelstrom of life and activity - and it’s electrifying! Leaving the city behind you’ll experience village life in the Kathmandu valley, then head on to Lower Mustang where you’ll ride amongst prayer flags, share tea with a farmer on his rooftop, and visit the World Peace Stupa above Pokhara.

Morocco - Renowned the world over for their hospitality, the Berber people of the Atlas mountains will welcome you with endless sweet mint tea and homemade bread. You’ll be immersed in real life in the Atlas mountains, from the daily call of the muezzin, to delicious tagines made with love, and the sense of community that pervades this beautiful region.

Bhutan - Robert travelled from Ireland to Bhutan to experience the unique culture, and it seems he wasn’t disappointed! “From the moment we dropped into Paro airport, flanked by 5,500 metre peaks, we were greeted with care and attention. Pelden took time to talk to us about the country's rich history, their beliefs and perspective. He explained and we experienced how they have no issue melding the rational with the spiritual and I truly felt the possibility of magic as we traversed the country.”

Chile - As you enter the lakes and volcanoes region of Chile, you’ll be welcomed by the Mapuche community. Your evenings will be spent learning about the rich cultural heritage that has been passed down through generations. After a traditional meal in a rucka, it’s time to bring your A-game as you compete in a match of Palin - a traditional team sport associated with feasting, celebration and community. It’s the perfect way to get to know your fellow riders!

Meet the newest additions to our Scottish guide team and the H+I family - Angus, Ally and Anna! For these three, the Scottish Highlands is their home, and they love nothing more than sharing it with riders from around the globe.

Whether it’s food, culture, history, wildlife, geology… these three have plenty of interesting stories to really bring your adventure to life.

First up, we have Angus. Not only is he one of our expert local guides, but one of our expert mechanics too. With over 10 years experience on the tools, he’ll look after you and your bike here in Scotland.

Next up we have Ally. Not only is he an MTB guide, he’s also a qualified sports scientist! Ally has devoted years of his life to finding the best singletrack Scotland has to offer and is most at home in the rugged wilderness of the Highlands.

Last, but certainly not least, we have Anna; MTB Guide, coach, business owner, event organiser and mum. She does it all! When Anna isn’t riding, you can find her on the East Coast, swapping her bike for her surfboard and mountains for beaches!

Hvar Island sits in the Adriatic between Split and Dubrovnik, and punches well above its weight in highlights. As well as ancient architecture and superb food and drink, it’s also the perfect place for e-mountain biking.
Here are our top 5 favourite things about Hvar Island….

1. Hvar Island gets over 3000 hours of sunshine, making it Croatia’s sunniest island.

2. The vitamin rich Adriatic Sea is right on the doorstep, meaning you can top off a great day of riding with a relaxing dip in the sea.

3. Extend your trip into Split and discover the Old Town which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

4. Explore the Greek, Roman + Venetian history of Dalmatia on two wheels.

5. Finish your day with a glass of wine in hand, watching the most spectacular sunsets.

As the 2024 season creeps closer, it’s all hands on deck here at H+I HQ. This week, we’ve had our team of skilled mechanics building our new fleet of Yeti SB140 rental bikes.

This do-it all bike continues to impress us year after year. It’s the perfect bike for climbing up and descending down the spectacular singletrack of Scotland. Sporting a full Shimano XT build and FOX suspension, this 29” ‘Super Bike’ won’t fail to put a smile on your face!

18/04/2024

Here in Scotland there are thousands of kilometres of truly remote singletrack trails that play host to our Scottish adventures. These trails link communities and stretch over wild landscapes that are perfect for adventurous riders.

With hand built drainage ditches, underground pipe work, and rock water bars, these trails are built to withstand the toughest weather Scotland can throw at them. However, even these trails need some love and attention from time to time. As the moorland vegetation takes hold and the rain erodes, it’s no mean feat to maintain and keep these trails open and fun to ride.

As we move into spring, our HQ team and Scottish guides gathered on the remote Applecross Peninsula to help maintain one of these trails after a long winter of storms and harsh conditions. The Kenmore to Applecross trail is a 15.5 km point to point trail that we ride as part of our Highland Odyssey and Coast-to-Coast Adventures.

Together with members of the local community, we hiked and biked along the trail with tools and set to work repairing waterlogged sections and diverting water. It’s amazing how much work goes into each and every meter of trail. With each fleeting second of singletrack riding, you’ve also covered tens, if not hundreds, of hours of hard work!

Here at H+I adventures we believe it’s important to give back to the landscapes we operate in and to work with local communities to repair and sustain our trails. We strive to be a positive representation of the mountain bike community as we continue to explore the Scottish Highlands on two wheels.

A big thank you to Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland and the Applecross Trust for having us along. We look forward to returning later this year to enjoy the warm welcomes and amazing views at Applecross Bay!

With our 2024 International Yeti Gathering fast approaching, we’ve been reminiscing on all the good times we’ve had with Yeti fans over the years!

A team favourite was our 2018 Gathering in New Zealand’s magical South Island.

Starting in Christchurch with a ride across a volcanic crater really set the tone for what was an epic week. Moving down the coastline of the South Island, we headed for the infamous Old Ghost Road - a long-forgotten miners' road that has been repurposed into 85 kilometres of singletrack gold. This 2-day adventure included a night high above the rainforest in a rustic mountain hut. That evening sunset will be etched in our minds forever!

Leaving the Old Ghost Road in our wake, we headed down the West coast to sample some of the local favourite trails in Wanaka. Of course, we were not disappointed! We put our Yetis to the test in Glendhu Bike Park and rounded off our day with a round of craft beers, of course!

All good things must come to an end and for this adventure, the end couldn't have been better! Our swan song came in the form of mountain bike Mecca, Rude Rock, and some sleet and rain falling on our heads!

Of course this didn't stop us enjoying our last laps of the tour... It was jackets on and a full train down to the bottom. Proof that no matter the weather, Yeti riders always have a good time!

These pictures have us itching to get back to this beautiful island! Who's coming with us?

Our Swiss mountain bike guide, Kurt, has mountain biking in his soul. He began his career as a bike mechanic, picking up riding in 1988, and went on to become one of Switzerland’s first MTB guides in 1996. Now, he explores the mountains that he calls home by E-MTB, going further than he ever could before!

We love Kurt and the passion and knowledge he brings to our Trans-Graubünden adventure! You can join him on both our MTB and E-MTB departures this year.

Life-affirming MTB + E-MTB tours

H+I Adventures: Setting the standard in international mountain bike and e-mountain bike travel.

If you’re not happy with the situation, change it. That’s what we did when we created H+I Adventures, back in 2007. Mountain bike travel in the early days was unimaginative and uninspiring: shuttle up, ride down, stay in a chalet… rinse and repeat.

As people who lived to travel with our mountain bikes and immerse ourselves in new places and cultures, this wasn’t good enough for us. So, we decided to disrupt the status quo, start afresh and set about crafting our very own international mountain bike adventures; ones that really fuelled and reflected our passion for experiencing the world on two wheels.

More importantly, we wanted these to be experiences that we would be proud to share with other adventurous mountain bikers – like you. Because, as we all know, there’s nothing better than the elation of exceeding (what you thought were) your own limits, then looking around to see that same feeling etched on the faces of all your riding buddies.
