Another message from the Cairngorm Capercaillie project :
Nesting is underway in our local capercaillie areas, including Boat of Garten. As we hope to bring news of some new arrivals, it’s important to be capercaillie-aware in Deshar Woods and try not to disturb these easily-spooked birds. A disturbed capercaillie hen may flee the nest and not return. That means her eggs are unlikely to survive, or her young chicks will be exposed to predators and the elements.

Capercaillie are a very sensitive species that are easily disturbed by us and our four-legged friends. An endangered bird that nests on the forest floor, the Cairngorms National Park is home to 85% of the remaining population. A new campaign in Boat of Garten is raising awareness of the important mating and nesting season, helping those who use the woods around the village to continue being good capercaillie neighbours.

Lodges for sale !!!
