Lovely end of day autumnal view from the Black Isle just north of Inverness as we head for home from the lovely village of North Kessock . A beautiful location for a walk where great food can also be enjoyed either at North Kessock Hotel or White Cottage - Food & Accommodation.

This magnificent edifice is only a five minute stroll from your apartment. Guests love the sound of the bells ringing not only on the Sabbath but also of a Thursday evening when it is bell ringing practice time. The lovely cathedral cafe Cafe Ness By the Cathedral is also nearby where it is possible to enjoy excellent coffee and home baking. We can thoroughly recommend it. โ›ช๏ธ ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ”” โ˜•๏ธ ๐Ÿฐ

Some photos of our recent trip to the beautiful west coast town of Ullapool. A 80 minute drive from your apartment i.e. if you donโ€™t stop for the multiple photo opportunities en route such as Rogie Falls and Corrieshalloch Gorge. Ullapool is the most beautiful little town in a stunning setting with several quality eateries and hostelries. We visited The Seafood Shack and cannot recommend it highly enough. Posing with Sylvie are our two West Highland Terriers Hector and Wallace who thoroughly enjoyed their day out.

Some useful information for our guests when driving on the single track roads in the Highlands. It is also customary and courtesy to acknowledge with a wave the driver of a vehicle who has stopped in a passing place to let you pass.Hereโ€™s wishing you safe journeys.

Many of our scenic roads in the Highlands and Islands are single track roads with passing places, which can be unfamiliar to visitors.

Here are some helpful tips to enjoy your drive safer

๐Ÿš™ Always keep to the left. if the passing place is on the right, wait opposite it.
๐Ÿš™ If you're driving slower than someone behind you, use the passing place to allow them to overtake. Frustration causes accidents!
๐Ÿš™ Open grazing for livestock is commonplace. Lookout for sheep, cattle and other animals on the road, and slow down when passing them.
๐Ÿš™ Never park in a passing place.
๐Ÿš™ When on hills, give way to drivers coming up the hill.

This Highland tour would have been a unique and enriching experience for the guests visiting a host of sites steeped in history and situated in stunning landscapes. I would certainly recommend checking out with Andrew should you wish to organise a bespoke tour in the company of a respected historian sometimes accompanied by his collie and often by his pipes.
