Had an absolute cracker of a day on Skye a few days ago with these two crackers Tracy and Ashley from New Jersey, we had a load of laughs along the way and was a pleasure to have them on board for the day, we also got the best weather for the day and to top it off the best sunset for them as we left Skye.

They opted to take the photography package as an extra and as you can see we got some cracking photos of them both plus some great landscape shots, all uploaded onto a private online gallery for them to download and share. Last week I had the absolute pleasure of taking this lovely lady Linda from Texas for 4 whole days of touring, from Edinburgh to Skye, Skye to Inverness and Inverness back to Edinburgh.

It was a very special tour because sadly Linda's husband Jack (aka Scruffy) passed away exactly 1 year ago the day before I picked her up which was an emotional day for her. she was telling me all about Scruffy, and what a guy he sounded and I wished I had met him, she also told me all about his really interesting family history having lots of Norse and even Viking in him.

Linda had a request when we met on the first day and asked me if I could take her somewhere at some point to scatter some of Jack's ashes. As we were up at The Quiraing viewpoint on Skye, I said to Linda "Are you ok with walking up that hill over there?" Yes she said, I replied "Go grab Scruffy from the van and we will take a walk up that hill over there and take Scruffy with us" She was so so happy and also very emotional at the same time. I could not think of a more beautiful and fitting place to scatter Scuffy's ashes and Linda agreed and was so grateful I was there with her and give her a wee hug as she said her farewells.

It was a beautiful day looking over to Staffin and the Sound of Raasay, which was fitting seeing as this is where some of the Norseman arrived 800 years ago. It was very special and an emotional time for Linda and I felt very privileged to be there with her when she set Jack's ashes down on this most amazing viewpoint. Even though Jack should have been on this tour with her, I am pretty sure he was in spirit.

We saw some beautiful sights along the way, with beautiful weather every day, we also saw a bunch of seals basking in the sunshine on Skye as we took the Glenelg ferry over the water which was special and Linda absolutely loved this part of the trip with even more amazing views as we got over the hill heading down to Loch Duich.

It was an amazing 4 days with a lovely lady and one tour that will always be a memorable one for me, Making friends along the way doing this job is the best part and in Linda's words "I now have an 11th adopted grandchild now who lives in Scotland" Honoured 🙂

What a lovely day for a local tour from Inverness, Culloden Battlefield, Clava Cairns, Cawdor Castle and Fort George with a lovely couple from New Jersey. Day 2 of 3 with them. I also managed to blag a wee shot on Poppy the horse walking past The Cawdor Tavern 🤣👍🏼

*IMPORTANT FAIRY POOLS TOUR UPDATES*

**Fairy Pools Update: A Temporary Change to Our Skye Tours**

Due to the significant increase in over tourism and the resulting traffic congestion at the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend visits to this location on our Skye tours.

The narrow single-track road leading to the Fairy Pools has become increasingly impassable due to the high volume of traffic and the misuse of passing places. Additionally, many visitors are venturing off the designated paths, causing damage to the fragile peatland and creating further obstructions and blocking the road for hours on end affecting local residents and people who work in Glen Brittle.

We believe that the risks associated with traveling to the Fairy Pools, including potential vehicle damage and long delays due to traffic jams, outweigh the benefits for our guests. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all our travellers, and we feel that this temporary measure is necessary to ensure their well-being as well as the driver guide conducting the tour. SEE PHOTO BELOW - Do you really want to have to experience this whilst on tour and waste precious hours?

We encourage visitors not only coming on our tours but others visiting on their own to explore the many other stunning attractions that the Isle of Skye has to offer. While we are unable to include the Fairy Pools on our tours, we will continue to offer a variety of other exciting itineraries whilst visiting the Isle of Skye.

We will reassess this situation once the road infrastructure has been improved to accommodate the increased traffic volume. Thank you for your understanding.
