We hosted a LARPS (Live Action Role Play) weekend back in March 23, and the organisers of that are re-running it next weekend here at Lattice Lodge.

Back in March, we posted about a new (to us) type of Exclusive Use hire - a LARPS Group (Live Action Role Play).

Well, their weekend was obviously a great success, as they've just booked another TWO weekends with us, in December 23 and January 24!

Apparently, today is National Cheeseball Day!

Which should be enough excitement for a Monday, but in case cheese just isn't your thing... in other news; Lattice Lodge is getting a bit of a spruce up on the outside this week.

The team have arrived with all their gear, along with a beautiful blue sky - we are looking forward to seeing the house looking all sparkly in the sunshine! 🌞

Many thanks to the team at Insight Energy for installing our 2 new Easee 7kw Type 2 untethered EV chargers yesterday.

This was a slightly complex installation, for a couple of reasons.

First, we operate on a 100amp single phase supply, so dynamic load balancing with the house is vital. We can't have the main fuse popping when there are cars charging, and we have the laundry machines and ovens running. The Easee Equaliser handles this for us.

Second, we have solar panels and 'house' batteries, and we don't want EV charging to deplete the house batteries. This was achieved by the system design and placing a CT clamp such that the 'house' batteries don't see the EV charger load.

Although the EV Chargers are primarily for our own (we run an EV for the business) and guest's use, they can be used by the general public during the day.

So you probably know what being 'up with the lark' means.... but what about being up with the LARPs?

Curious? 🤔 Yes, us too! Well just in case you didn't already know, and to save you the trouble of Googling it... it stands for Live Action Role Play, and we know this because Lattice Lodge had the pleasure of hosting a lovely group of LARPers at the weekend.

It's a type of role-playing game in which participants physically act out scenarios, typically using costumes and props. Lattice Lodge has been used for many different purposes, occasions, and groups over the years, but we think this was the first time it was used to run a LARP weekend - and, we really hope it won't be the last!

Having a large extended family in the school holidays can sometimes be, let's say 'problematic', when all you want is to get everyone in the same place for some quality time together 😫😤😭.

First of all finding a property large enough to accommodate everyone; in the right configuration of bedrooms, with sufficient self-catering facilities, and room to sit down for meals... and then to be in a central location (with easy access to a variety of amenities), ample parking, free super-fast WIFI etc etc... but to also have the little extra's like a private garden with lots of seating areas, as well as a separate lounge and conservatory too... impossible, yes?

No!

Lattice Lodge is ideal for large group self-catering breaks with everything you need for a comfortable stay whether you want to hang around the house and play games, or head out to the seaside for the day.

Ipswich is currently looking very colourful, with 50 big owls (and lots of little ones) dotted about various location across town. They are all waiting patiently to be discovered and photographed (no camouflage or stalking skills required) 🦉
The Big Hoot Ipswich 2022 is raising funds for the St Elizabeth Hospice and will run until 3rd September. The owls will then be auctioned off to their forever homes on the 15th September.

Since we've had our solar panels installed, we've saved the equivalent of 12 trees worth of CO2 from the environment. That's almost one 🌳 a week! (For those that don't use trees as a unit of measure...then it's also just over 1 ton of CO2 😉)

And as we're also now running an electric vehicle, which on some days is 100% charged by the 🌞, we are double happy with our investment!

Never ever have we wished more for blue skies and sunshine! 😎

🌞 Very excited to see that after just two weeks of generating solar power, we’ve saved over 86Kg of CO2 from the environment - which is the equivalent of planting our first tree! 🌳

At this rate we’ll soon have a small forest! 🌳🌳🌳

We are open as usual!

The scaffolding is still in place... for another week or so, whilst we take the opportunity to give the outside of the house a refresh, but we are still open for individual room hires.

Lattice Lodge provides use of a shared kitchen, dining and laundry facilities alongside your lockable, ensuite bedroom - which also includes a small fridge and microwave in every room, as well as smart TV, superfast WIFI... and... free parking!! 🤩

And as the sun is shining this week, don't forget guests can use the back garden and it's various seating areas, or the south-facing conservatory lounge for relaxing in ☀😎.

It's fair to say we've been busy weather-watching, this last week or so ☀️...hence the delay in showing you our latest investment at Lattice Lodge!

So here we have it. A 9kw Solar PV array complete with 20kwh battery storage - designed and installed by local business Doyle Electrical Services Ltd.

We will share with you some more detail (lucky you hey?😉) just what this significant investment means to Lattice Lodge and of course, the environment 💚.

In the meantime, a big thank you to Cavin and his Ninja-esque team for a seamless installation 👏.

We've recently fitted new CCTV cameras to the outside of Lattice Lodge, to provide better security for the premises, and of course, our guests.

It records whenever it detects movement, and as a result we've learnt a lot about the noctural movements of the neighbourhood cats! 😸

Remember remember, the 5th of November! How could we forget? Well, it's this weekend, and Lattice Lodge is open for shared self-catering room hires!

It's been a while as we've been pretty much solidly booked for whole house hires every weekend since June - we've had lots of large groups of families and friends catching up and enjoying an exclusive use of Lattice Lodge.

This Saturday night also sees the return of the Ipswich Fireworks Festival in Christchurch Park for it's 50th Anniversary event, which includes a whole host of entertainment including live music. So if you are planning to come to Ipswich for the display, why not stay over or even make a weekend of it - Lattice Lodge has some availability, (we are starting to get booked, so hurry!)

That's the latest round of refurbishment completed!

So, new and expertly laid carpets in some of the ground floor bedrooms and all of the communal areas throughout including stairs, landing, dining room and conservatory. Along with a very professional lick of paint we are delighted at how fresh and bright the place looks! 🤩

There's no rest for the wicked...😉 The works continue at Lattice Lodge with the conservatory and rear hallway getting a fresh coat of paint to go with the new carpet which is being fitted later this week. We can't wait to see the results!
