Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines Every single thing we've learned over 175 years, goes into every single day of a Fred. Olsen cruise.

Cruise from eight regional UK ports to hundreds of destinations worldwide in the classic style and comfort of our smaller-sized ships. For most of the year, the ships are based in Britain, with cruises departing from Southampton, Portsmouth, Dover, Tilbury, Rosyth (for Edinburgh), Liverpool, Belfast and Newcastle, while we also operate inspirational fly-cruises to destinations far and wide. "One very special memory is of the Solar Eclipse. We were all given special glasses to wear and were reminded of how important it was to wear the glasses at all times. Everyone was on deck well wrapped up against the cold. It was completely enthralling watching the sun slowly disappearing and the total darkness, the drop in temperature and complete silence was very moving. It is something I will remember for the rest of my life. As usual the way the crew looked after us was first class. I've had lots of other amazing experiences too - the Captains in Cadiz, watching the ships sail in with all the lights on and the sail away with all four ships sailing out together. Canada in the Fall, Fireworks in Funchal at New Year to name just a few. I could go on and on. Can't wait to continue cruising with Fred. Olsen for as long as possible."

Thank you to Ms Morgan for sharing your favourite on board with us 😊💙

"It's the feeling of coming home. From swift embarkation and heading for the buffet, to returning from another interesting excursion where we learn far more from a local guide than we ever could from books. The home-from-home Botanical Room with a decaf mocha and a rose cream chocolate, and the little things like crew ashore handing out hot chocolate in drizzly Lerwick or planters punch in the Canaries."

Thank you to Sheila for sharing your favourite on board with us 😊💙

"After 114 very happy Fred. Olsen cruises, I could write a book but I’m too busy cruising. On my 100th cruise we were in Oslo and Fred. Olsen Jnr visited the ship. Captain Degerlund introduced me to him as Joy of 100 cruises. Fred. Jnr replied 'We must be doing something right'. A very special moment for me."

A big thank you to Ms Scott for sharing your favourite on board with us 😊💙

"Cruising with Fred is my happy place. From the minute I step on board I feel at home. I just love the warm feeling you get when greeted by crew met on previous cruises.

My most memorable recent highlight was cruising by the glaciers in Spitsbergen. The silence and the beauty of the scenery was spectacular in every way.

I live close to Rosyth so it’s always special for me sailing away on the beautiful Balmoral beneath the Forth Bridges to start a new adventure."

"In April 2022, on an Azores and Iceland cruise, there was a visually impaired lady on one excursion. Our es**rt, Nico from Destination Services, spent an awful lot of time with her making sure she could still enjoy the day, without neglecting the rest of us.

That is just one example of what makes the crew and staff from Fred. Olsen so special."

Thank you to Ms Macey for sharing one of your on board with us! 🛳💙

We are excited to share that one of Britain's most-loved television presenters, Michaela Strachan, will be joining us on board two of our upcoming sailings!

She will spend six days on board Bolette for our Scenic Autumnal Norwegian Fjords cruise in September, and in March 2025 in South Africa, she will be joining Bolette’s maiden world sailing, ‘A Voyage of Exploration Around the World’ cruise. 🌎

As well as hosting talks in the Neptune Lounge, Michaela will be accompanying guests on tours including kayaking in Ålesund, Norway, and to Boulders Beach to see the colony of penguins, the Cape of Good Hope to take in the unique flora and fauna and seek out the Big Five at Aquilla Game Reserve from Cape Town. 🐘

Michaela said “I’m really looking forward to joining the Norwegian Fjords cruise. I’ve sailed through the fjords a couple of times and it’s spectacular. As for joining the World Cruise as it sails into Cape Town, it’s where I’ve lived for the last 22 years, and I always get huge pleasure showing the sights off to guests. It’s known as the Mother City and people always sail away with a little bit of Cape Town in their hearts.”

It's not too late to join us for our Scenic Autumnal Norwegian Fjords cruise: https://bit.ly/4fI64IA

Or, join us for an adventure of a lifetime on our World Cruise: https://bit.ly/3AkYUd3

Our Story

Whoever said that “bigger is better”? Not us. While the cruise industry has gone for bigger ships brimming with more and more people, we’ve always believed that small is better. Because smaller ships bring big benefits. They mean we can treat passengers as guests, like the family-run business we are. They can dock at smaller ports, much closer to the parts of our planet we’re most passionate about showing. They mean we can avoid overcrowding, both aboard and ashore, so our guests can disembark easily and enjoy the freedom to see, explore and experience. They mean we can offer warmer, more personal levels of service. It would be easy to scale up, cram in and cut corners, but we never will. Because to us, the size we are is the size we should be.
