Today we are proud to spotlight Rosendo Napalinga III, known as Nap, Chief Security Officer on board Balmoral. This year, he celebrated 21 years of being part of the Fred. Olsen family! 🛳️

"My journey with Fred. Olsen began in 2004 where I started working on Braemar as a Deck Boy. I quickly progressed to join the Security Team, going from Security Guard to Security Officer, then to Security Supervisor and then I was promoted to Chief Security Officer in 2022."

"When I first thought about joining the cruise industry, I was inspired by the idea of traveling and exploring new places. I have met many interesting people from around the globe and made friendships that I cherish. The best part is that I feel part of a big community, which makes work enjoyable." 🌎

"One of my most memorable experiences happened when our fleet gathered in Funchal. I felt a sense of pride as we welcomed guests from Borealis and Bolette. I remember watching families take photos together and laughing on the deck, creating wonderful memories. It was special to see the teamwork among all three ships and our shared mission of providing a fantastic experience. The Security Team participated in the swimming competition, tug of war and the King Neptune Ceremony. That day reminded me of why I love working in this unique environment, where we not only ensure safety and security but also help create joy for guests." 🎉

"One of the most rewarding moments I had was when I helped a guest who was feeling unwell. I noticed a woman sitting alone, looking pale and anxious. I went over to ask if she needed assistance. She explained that she was feeling dizzy, and I immediately called for medical help while talking to her to keep her calm. The Medical Team arrived swiftly and took care of her. Later, I learned that she had recovered well and thanked me for my support. Knowing that I could provide help in a time of need made me feel proud. It truly reinforced why I love this job."

Thank you for your hard work, Nap! 💙

Our Story

Whoever said that “bigger is better”? Not us. While the cruise industry has gone for bigger ships brimming with more and more people, we’ve always believed that small is better. Because smaller ships bring big benefits. They mean we can treat passengers as guests, like the family-run business we are. They can dock at smaller ports, much closer to the parts of our planet we’re most passionate about showing. They mean we can avoid overcrowding, both aboard and ashore, so our guests can disembark easily and enjoy the freedom to see, explore and experience. They mean we can offer warmer, more personal levels of service. It would be easy to scale up, cram in and cut corners, but we never will. Because to us, the size we are is the size we should be.
