When Spirit 111 Geist challenged Spirit 100 Gaia to a match race series, we knew it would be something special. However, even we underestimated what a pivotal moment it would be in the Spirit story and what a spectacle it would deliver.
The natural maze of the Stockholm archipelago provided a captivating backdrop to a truly memorable event.

Hosted by the prestigious KSSS yacht club it was the first time in nearly one hundred years two single masted wooden yachts would go head to head ⛵️💨
111ft Spirit yacht Geist took on the 100ft Spirit Gaia in three windward/leeward races in the waters surrounding Sandhamn followed by a 3-leg 30nm through the stunning Swedish archipelago to reach the capital city of Stockholm for the finale party 🍾

What a year! 2023 marked 30 years since Spirit Yachts was founded in an old farm building in rural Suffolk by friends Sean McMillan and Mick Newman.
Since 1993, Spirit has gone from humble beginnings to becoming a great British success story. With over 80 sail and power yachts worldwide, Spirit Yachts has awards, documentaries, and two James Bond films amongst its 30-year highlights.

The finest quality craftsmanship...
Spirit yachts are built by a world-class team of men and women using timber only sourced from responsibly managed forests.
The video shows an insight into the construction of a ringframe, which is the first stage in the creation of a Spirit yacht.
Thin lengths of wood are laminated together with a meticulous degree of accuracy over full-size computer generated patterns. Once the ringframes are ready, they are placed onto a strongback, which forms the start of the hull shape. From there, a new Spirit is born...
Soul and a little bit of air to breathe... This is what Spirit 72DH Anima II stands for.
This fully custom yacht was designed and built for family cruising and chartering in the Mediterranean. The brief from her owners was very personal and their preferences and personalities run throughout the yacht.
Her owner says, "My soul can breathe when onboard and I feel happy."

"Design and build a work of art" : the brief from the owner of the Spirit 111 Geist.
The largest, single-masted wooden yacht to be built in the UK since Shamrock V in the 1930s, Geist is also one of the most environmentally friendly superyachts on the water today.
This multi award-winning yacht is the result of one owner's dream and the subsequent partnership with the Spirit team. From the exterior, her flush decks and long overhangs deliver style and performance on the water. Below deck, she houses a truly unique interior. Inspired by Antelope Canyon in Arizona, there are no straight lines; walls and bulkheads flow in a seamless ‘S’ shape. Door handles are replaced by hidden motion sensors and beds are cocooned in timber as if levitating from the floor. Ambient light sensors and a GPS clock control the brightness and warmth of the light, ensuring there is no harsh contrast between outside and inside.
