The last stop on my Italian trilogy is Cesenatico and the Grand Hotel Da Vinci. This is another five star hotel, but with a real family feel. The beach, and its own beach club, is right outside the back gate. The swimming pool, indoor swimming pool and toddler play area all point to how important children are to the family. Cesenatico itself is one of the prettiest towns I have ever come across, and is open all year round. A typically Italian resort from a typically Italian tour operator - Typically Holidays.

The second in the trilogy of Batani Hotels in Emilia Romagna is the Grand Hotel Gallia in Milano Marittima. About one hundred metres from the beach is the four star hotel with a five star heart. The family welcome and service is as evident here as it was in the five star Grand Hotel in Rimini. It also has its own beach club - albeit not so large. The town was named after the swathe of Milanese who made this town their own after using it as their summer weekend home. The history may not be here - but the shopping is! A very different feel, but then not everybody is looking for the same attributes in a holiday. The beach is part of the forty mile golden sand highway - and the promenade is ideal for walking or cycling, and is lined with eateries. Another typically Italian holiday by Typically Holidays.

Bridget has popped over to Italy to get some late summer sun, and try out three Batani Hotels. The first is next to the beach in Rimini - the Grand Hotel Rimini. Built in 1908, this is a historic and grand hotel - being a building of historic importance it is very difficult to change anything inside or outside, so is very much as it was over a hundred years ago. With its own private beach (and on a forty mile golden sandy beach along which both of the other hotels I am staying in are situated) it is of a golden era grandeur. The old town of Rimini is twenty minutes walk, with eateries and shops from almost right outside the front door. What a find this is - and certainly not the Rimini that had a very different reputation in the eighties. If you like good food, history in abundance all mixed in with beach facilities and a friendly service, this is a winner. Typically Holidays does what it says on the tin!

The Kirker Music Festival in Mallorca

Many teams from the travel industry will be taking part to raise money for a very worthy cause.

The Food With Love Project founded by travel’s inimitable Mariam Sajjad who runs the charity with great passion and enthusiasm. Involving the whole community to feed the few, lessons can be learned across the country so no-one has to go hungry.
