This is our local pub in Ireby. We're hopeful that the local community is going to take it over and run it for the local community - and visitors of course. It's a cracking little pub and a lovely walk from High Houses on a warm summer evening.

An ascent of Skiddaw in winter! Marvellous!

High Houses is perfectly located for climbing Skiddaw from the lesser known route up Bakestall from Dash Falls.

It’s a much quieter route than the main tourist route up from Keswick. It can form part of a brilliant 11 mile round trip from Skiddaw summit, Little Man, Lonscale Fell and down to Skiddaw House.

A brilliant mountain walk with absolutely stunning views!

High Houses is located on the northern slopes of Binsey, the most Northerly of the Lake District fells.

It is not well known yet offers some of the best panoramic views in the Lake District.

It’s an easy walk from High Houses and can form part of a fantastic circular 5.5 mile walk, where you will often meet no one.

Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring - the view always looks different.

We love it! So do our guests.
