We continue our roundup of 2024 highlights with this magical site at Traigh Mheilein, Huisinis on the Isle of Harris. The ring of stone is an Iron Age building – maybe a house. Excavations have shown it is 2000-3000 years old. Nearby are fragments of further walls and an area of black peaty deposit containing crushed bone, shell, and burnt stone.

Like many sites in mobile sand dune systems, this one is sometimes visible and sometimes not, and always vulnerable to erosion. More of the site might be revealed in the coming years...

Our restaurant is open for bookings. Heres one of our delicious puddings ! Katie, the head chef has trained with some of the best Scottish chefs including Andrew Fairlie in Glasgow. Katie creates daily bespoke menus for the guests and prides herself on using fresh, local produce and traditional Hebridean recipes wherever possible.

The dining experience consists of a 3 course set menu created and cooked to individual dietary requirements and tastes. Contact Katie for more information.
