Drum roll…..hold on tight as we have some shocking news about our day in Grenada! We didn’t go to Grande Anse beach, instead we opted for Mourne Rouge beach, a little bit further around the coast. 10 dollars per person each way with a port taxi. What was it like?
Well it is an incredibly beautiful beach set in a bay surrounded by small cliffs and lush greenery. Lots of space and beautiful soft sand. There was a small section of stones as you entered the water but very quickly turned back to sand.
The beach has limited sun loungers (10 dollars each), a two or three bars and some outdoor shower facilities. We saw a couple of people in kayaks but no motorised water sports. Most importantly no annoying beach vendors! Well we tell a bit of a fib as one lady did try and sell some sarongs but only tried once and gave up.
One favour to ask, keep this beach a secret between us! We don’t want those annoying cruise passengers to find it 🙂
07:30 arrival with a 5:30 all onboard. Heading for an overnight in St Lucia with a surprise install for Kaz.

People often ask is the drinks package worth it? It really (and obviously) depends on how much you drink! For us on our current 14 night cruise the package starts at around £300 each and goes up to over £600 for the premium deal. So £1,200 on drinks in two weeks? That’s a no from us. There are plenty of free options from water, squash, fruit juice and smoothies in the buffet.
Just to help you decide we’ve added some current bar menus to the post.

Well that was a whirlwind day! We managed to see so much of St Vincent with Caribbean Island Tours. Dark View Falls, Pirates of The Caribbean film set and finish with 2 hour beach stop.
Sailing away now with a beautiful sunset.
We are eating in the Beach House again this evening at 8:30. Steak maybe, even if you have to cook it yourself!
Lots of entertainment choices this evening around Britannia, Voxens a singing group ‘with a twist’, Pulse 70’s music in the Live Lounge or maybe Busker Bradley in Brodies?
Hot and sunny forecast for Grenada tomorrow. We don’t have any plans yet, any suggestions?

Thursday? - must be in St Vincent. Some liquid sunshine first thing but is is at least warm rain 🙂
Last night we eat in the MDR as it was Dressy Up Night, nice food but unfortunately mine wasn’t very warm. The waiters were excellent and did everything to fix it. Showtime was The Privateers, this is a must see toe tapping experience!!
We are currently on a tour with Sydney from Trubb Taxi Tour off to Dark View falls, Pirates of The Caribbean film set, a beach and botanical gardens. Will add a further post with pics later.
We landed at 07:30, all aboard 5:30.

Almost 4pm here in the Caribbean on P&O Britannia. It’s been a tough day at sea as you can imagine 🙂 Lunch in the main dining room with plenty to choose from. Not sure the advertised ‘home made’ burger was actually home made though. But hey you can’t win them all.
Sat by the pool for a while, very busy but plenty of bar seats or places alongside the pool to sit if you can’t find a sun lounger. We spoke to the Pool Attendant who told us Britannia are actively trying to stop sun beds being reserved. The Deck Staff have been monitoring this and we’ve seen them removing items which is good to see. Officially you get 30 minutes but in reality they wait almost 1 hour before doing this.
A spot of afternoon tea in The Retreat now, Nige might make it to the hot tub if he can muster the energy.
Dressy Up night this evening so we are heading for the MDR -these nights tend to have an enhanced menu so we will let you know with an end of day post.
Internet has been solid and speedy with no complaints apart from the cost. We share a single device package between the two of us which improves the value.

….and relax, must be a sea day. Awake to an amazing view off the back end (that’s a technical term). Nice cup of tea on the balcony then we’ve hit the buffet. About 8:45 am now and relatively quiet with lots of seats available for breakfast.
We are just about to head for the pool deck, will add a photo in the comments of sun lounger wars availability.
Kaz has a bamboo massage (try saying that without singing a certain song) this afternoon.
Will add some photos also of the Horizon paper that gives you todays schedule. Also we will check out lunch options later for a sea day.
Add any questions you might have in the comments and we will try our best to answer them.
Lovely ship & lovely crew so far - even the other passengers have been relatively well behaved 😉

5pm on Britannia now currently in Bonaire. All aboard for 5:30 when we set sail for a day at sea tomorrow. We booked a tour through Trip Advisor today. A 4 hour ‘party bus’ and beach stop. We enjoyed the day but our advise is not to pre book. As soon as you get off the ship there is a row of tour guides much cheaper than online or the ship - and often the same companies that P&O use. Bonaire is a small island so limited really to a good beach day. You can also easily walk for a few minutes from the port and find some really nice bars and tourist shops.
We are probably trying the Glass House tonight for our dinner. A word of warning, Sindhu and Epicurean are virtually fully booked for the rest of our cruise.

It’s 8am and we’ve landed in Bonaire. Some passing rain showers this morning and becoming increasingly sunny!
We are off on a ‘fun bus’ and beach tour- rum punch included!
The town from the ship looks fairly residential, a pretty bay with some small modern fishing boats. Will let you know what is available locally to see. We booked our tour independently of the ship - a bit of a calculated risk but it’s due back at 2pm so plenty of time. We think all aboard is 5:30 - need to check that. Will also look out for any local tours being offered in port.
Any ideas what’s to see in Bonaire?

Had a whistle stop tour of 3 beaches with Vacation Deals, booked on Get Your Guide but you can also book through their instagram page. Amazing guide who introduced us to her beautiful island. We were picked up and dropped off directly at the ship. Made it back to the ship just before 2. Walked into town - very easy 10 minutes through some lovely shops. Now we are sat outside Iguana Cafe having a snack and drink on the river side.
Did we mention it’s Nige’s birthday!! A celebration dinner this evening in Sindhu.
We haven’t made it to a show yet but we plan to soon. Loving the cruise so far, great food and it’s hot hot hot!

5:20 PM here in the Caribbean Sea (9:20 UK time). Closing in on Curacao after a day at sea. Going on a Get Your Guide beach tour when we dock.
This afternoon was hot hot hot on the pool deck. We spent time in The Retreat but also found seats/sunbeds close to the pool, at the Sunset Bar and aft terrace pool. A new policy on Britannia is in place to try and reduce passenger reserving sunbeds. We’ve seen people in the past place towels on beds on both sides of the pool to guarantee sun and shade! Now you only get one blue towel, you can swop it as much as you like at the towel stations.
Nice lunch in The Retreat, crab meat and prawn salad - they called it a much fancier name. Drinks aren’t included in here on Britannia but waiters will get you them from the bar that you pay for or on a package.
Afternoon tea available in the buffet but we had ours out on deck in the Retreat.
Dressy Up Night this evening. Will be interesting to see what’s allowed in the dining rooms as it’s often up for discussion on social media platforms.
We’ve swapped from second sitting to freedom as didn’t like our original table. Was easy to do after a quick request at reception.
Some lunchtime and 5pm pool deck photos as many first sitting diners have left to get dressed.

Day 2! Sea Day -Sailing the Caribbean Sea.
It’s 7:40am here, sat on the pool deck of Britannia. Still some pool side sun beds available!!
Yesterday we flew into Barbados on a TUI charter flight. Landed around 4pm and on the ship by 5. A very smooth process, just need boarding pass and passport at the ship check-in. Then they ask you to attend your Muster Station where they simply scan your cruise card and you’re done!
Not a late night as tired but managed the Main Dining Room, food was excellent and the choice suited us but the waiters could have been more attentive.
Will relax around the pool today and spend some time in The Retreat- that’s fully booked now so you need to book this early if you want it.
This evening we have booked The Beach House, a speciality American type restaurant in a sectioned off area of the buffet. Curaçao tomorrow where we have an independent beach tour booked with Caribbean Island Tours.

Day 1 of our 14 night Caribbean cruise on Britannia! It’s cold wet and windy outside, well we are at London Gatwick. Check in took moments, Level 2 Zone C/D - just look for the P&O logo. All you need is your passport, no P&O reference required. They give you a boarding pass then it’s off to security and Duty Free. In a Lounge now waiting to fly with TUI at 11:10. It’s a charter flight so you can’t check in until the day. We pre booked our seats online (extra charge) as we wanted specific seats. Will keep you posted!

Has the Friday crew arrived yet? Us Saturday layabouts are still in Gatwick. Fly out in the morning.
