Squirrel Wood is now officially closed for winter, we have had a fantastic time and would like to thank you all, even through these strange times we have met lots of wonderful people, we have put smiles on hundreds of tired wet hikers faces and met some great couples in the lodges too. We hope we see some of you again and know we will see some who want to come back. If we touched your lives like you have touched ours the world is a better place for all of us. Our motto from now on was said to us by a very special woman. "squirrel wood, you arrive as a stranger and leave as a friend". Thank you all very much.

Message to walkers from Squirrel wood campsite and lodges, Cowling. Please note anyone walking for charity can camp for free on proof of chosen charity, also a free beer on arrival. Please get in touch so we can sort you out without it costing you money when that money is better in the charity pot.

Due to high demand we are opening the bunk house and lodges earlier than expected this year, we now open on Monday the 9th of March for the 2020 season.

Hi every one from Squirrel wood campsite and lodges, Ickornshaw. Cowling (150m off the PW) we open on the 15th of march, the lodges, Bunk house and camping are all available from that date, this year we also have craft beers and wines from our very own micro brewery and lots of new features in the lodges, as well as more outside seating area by the bar. Also evening meals and breakfast to order. No need to book for camping as we only cater for walkers. Lodges need to be booked in advance. Looking forward to more fun in the bar and meeting new people. Ady & Kim

The 2 barrels are tapped and vented ready for tomorrows Christmas party at Squirrel wood. Both brewed here at our very own Brewery. The new brew "Muddy Boots" is a special brew we made to celebrate our 3rd season at squirrel wood campsite and lodges, It is a bit stronger than "Divorce tackle" and we will be brewing more of both for our 2020 season. The results of which is best will be in on Sunday and the test is to see who gets the drunkest and sits on a plastic chair and brexit, lol

Due to having absolutely no choice but to address the situation in the only way I can is that Squirrel wood campsite and lodges is now ADULTS ONLY as from today. Existing booking with children will be honoured but no new booking with under 14’s. ALL lodges will be kitted out this winter with outside BBQ and seating area, each fenced with its own garden area. This is not aimed at the majority of people who have stayed here with children but recently we have been tested to our limits. Not being able to tell off other peoples children without being threatened resulted in destruction, vandalism, burning, breaking rules and been allowed to run around other lodges screaming and making a nuisance, while parents who go deaf to the sound of there own children has resulted in other guests leaving, which I have never had before has forced me into taking this action. My hobby turned into a nightmare is no longer a hobby. We are back to a tranquil retreat in a beautiful location and back to my hobby. It was this, or close site.
