On our way home after a great week in Cognac sampling the local produce🥃

For our final night in France we’ve popped into the Auld Alliance bar in Paris for a Tennants while we decide who to support in the rugby🤔🤔🤷‍♂️🏉🇫🇷🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🍺

After a few trials and tribulations getting here we made it in time for Michelle to get to her shift at Distillerie de Fontagard this morning.

By chance a French TV crew were on site filming and asked if Michelle would give them a couple of minutes of her time - stay tuned for details of how to view!😀

Finished the day off with a fantastic tour of Vallein Tercinier. And of course some tastings of quality local Cognac produce🥃

A DAY OF CRICKET! It's a big day for our Under 14s team on Sunday... facing Arbroath in their cup game at 11am. This will be followed by our 2nd team taking on Knight Riders in their next Bon Accord Cup game at 2pm. The BBQ will be fired up, the bar will be open, the sun is set to shine .. come on down and support our youngsters and 2nd XI. Bring your friends ... and your sun-screen! 😀🏏🍷🍺🌞

Speyside Tours had a great weekend at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. Lots of live music from Trio Da Kali, Treacherous Orchestra and Colonel Mustard & the Dijon Five.

Of course we managed to squeeze in some whisky and loved attending the National Whisky Festival. A great mix of smaller distilleries and independent bottlers🥃

Lovely to work with Gordon Castle, providing a gin tasting from some of our local producers.
It goes without saying that the cocktail made with the Gordon Castle botanical gin and the Gordon Castle raspberry gin liqueur was a big hit!..... and just to get back to whisky, if you look at no.4 photo of the piper you will see a rather grand portrait hanging. No other than..... the Duke of Gordon! Whose extensive lands had some of the finest illicit whisky being produced. He lobbied the Government to make it profitable to produce whisky legally.

In 1823 the famous Excise Act was passed, which sanctioned the distilling of whisky in return for a licence fee of £10. The Duke did benefit a little too - all that rent/taxes he could now collect from his whisky tenant's!

Discovered possibly the best bakery in the country👏😋. Rain Bakery on Fort William height street is well worth a visit!

Driving over the Cabrach today, it was lovely to see The Buck covered in snow. We had to stop for some Hedgehogs!! Not the animal but the lovely Hedgehog mushrooms.

Back home we cooked them up with kale and kombu seaweed- It gives an amazing unami flavour. Paired with Ben Riach Smoke Season🥃
