It is with a mixture of sadness and excitement that we are retiring.. our last guests left on 6th June 2023.

Since opening we’ve made some great friends and shared some magic moments and we'd like to thank our many guests for their support over the years.

We purchased Hyning in 2009.. our aim was to completely redevelop and extend Hyning, a 17C Farmhouse and barns on the edge of the Lake District and North Yorkshire National Parks to create a truly unique and “green” home with attached holiday dwellings all hand crafted to exceptional standards that would facilitate a change of lifestyle whilst sharing the ideals, the beauty of the setting, and the materials used with others and we are proud to have truly achieved this 101%.

New chapters open shortly for both ourselves and for Hyning, the new owner of The Hyning Estate is a charitable trust that shares many of our beliefs and ideals and has a very strong social conscience. We couldn't have wished for a safer set of hands into which to entrust this amazing and historic place.

Our 3 new Type 2 EV Charge Points also went live yesterday. Each of the three "Charging Robots" automatically adapt to the power of the grid, the electric car and the installation to provide a total of up to 22kw. EV charging access and payment is via a simple, easy to use and free to download app - see photos below. The old 3.5kw charge point is no longer available.

We're now Live on B4RN 1Gb/s Broadband! The Engineers spliced the final section of the Fibre Optic cable and installed our router yesterday. WiFi challenges in our thick stone walled cottages (and our extensive foil-backed insulation) mean that you'll never experience the full speeds (except on a wired connection) but a quick survey with a laptop in all the cottages yielded a very consistent speed of 60-85 Mb/s both UP and DOWN and which doesn't slow down. AMAZING!

Last night’s walk.. Unmistakably and unashamedly Gummers How, a fabulous short walk above Windermere, particularly scenic at sunset and less than an hour’s round trip from the car park. On the way back to The Hyning Estate you pass (and so could stop for a meal or just a drink) at The Masons Arms (Strawberry Bank), The Hare & Hounds (Bowland Bridge), The Punch Bowl Inn (Crosthwaite) or The Black Labrador (Underbarrow).

Gigabit B4RN Broadband is finally here (in Grayrigg) .. Once the cabinet is in place then laying the fibre is pretty quick and we're hopeful they might reach The Hyning Estate by Christmas. We already have our duct out to the boundary :) 🌲🎁😎📱💻🎥🔊

The Byre - New for 2021. We are still awaiting the balance of the furniture which got stuck on the wrong side of the blockage in the Suez Canal (Dining table & chairs, bedroom furniture, mirrors, lamps etc. etc.) featuring staggering views and a kitchen for cooks & caterers. Available very shortly (booking currently restricted until after 1st July but hope to change this soon) 🥳🤩
