One of my favourite days of the year is when the pet lambs are transferred from their pen in the barn to the orchard, love watching them enjoying a good run through the fresh grass, blossom on the fruit trees & the sound of the birds in the hedge rows

‘And then there were none’ - last ewe & her lambs went out to the fields this morning leaving just our chunky chums here, in the barn. Hoping we’ll get them out into the orchard by the house tomorrow… And the last of the mucking out!

And then there were three’ - just like that, after three and a half weeks of wall to wall lambing we’re down to the last 15 outside still to lamb and just these few new ones in the barn - and the usual gang of pets! Made it to the supermarket this morning but Ed hasn’t been further than the top of the hill in three weeks! Conversation becoming quite limited…

Finally got a start on replacing the sash windows at the big house. First three in, still a bit of work to finish the job with these and tidy up but really pleased with the workmanship of Marthwaite Joinery, Sedbergh, thanks also to Mike Packham for installing.

Kendal Farmers Market this Friday 29th July 2022.

It's going to be a busy market this month. 32 Farmers and Producers all in Kendal Market Place. Everyone trading on the market produces their own products. You will find Bakers, Gin Makers, Fishmongers as well as the local farmers selling their own organic beef, pork, venison, duck and chickens. We also have, cheese, honey, smoked deli meat and fish, pies, sausage rolls, scotch eggs, jams, chutney, cakes, fudge, chocolate, soaps, flowers, sourdough bread and wine.
It’s a great place to look for local gifts, or to grab a bite; hog roasts, coffee and plant-based ice-cream.
